Ah, Lexapro... how did I ever get along without you?

So, I ran out of my script on Friday… I should have called in a new one before I was halfway finished with the last one. Now that it’s Sunday, all of those worries and insecurities are catching up with me.

I didn’t start this thread to talk about how shitty I feel when I’m not on the stuff, but rather talk about how wonderful this medication has been to me. It’s only when I ran out of it that realized how much it’s actually done wonders for me. I’ve been on so many variations of antidepressants, but Lexapro really stands out considerably. I can’t wait to see where my positive attitude will end up taking me.

I’m also glad I found this stuff before fall and winter hit. I still don’t know how I can survive another Buffalo winter. If you could all cross your fingers for me, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Anyone else find a drug, or a combo of drugs that has really helped them?

I started on the lexapro in December of last year.
Hands down the best thing I ever did.
In a matter of days I felt better. I’ve had the script rewritten once from ten miligrams to twenty miligrams, but other than that no trouble at all.
I’ve only gone a day or two without them, and have only had one or two “relapses”, I guess you would call it.
Best. Decision. Ever.

I switched from Prozac to Lexapro. I love it too.

I was on Celexa from last May until December, when I switched to Lexapro. I really liked Celexa, but Lexapro is even better for me. I’m only on 10mg SID - just enough to keep the edge off!

I don’t know…
I’ve been on Lexapro, after switching from Celexa, since January & I can’t really tell a difference.
I can now take less milligrams- 10 mg per day instead of 40,

but is Lexapro really that different from Celexa?
I read that Forest Lab created Lexapro to extend their patent on Celexa…and they both cost the same, no matter the difference in milligrams.

I read more info here on Public Citizen and the “seven year rule” makes a lot of sense to me. I’ve taken a few medications that were later found to have withdrawal symptoms.

I have a doctor’s appt. tomorrow & I was thinking about asking to switch back to Celexa, except they both cost the same.

I added 20 mg of Lexapro to my 200 mg of Wellbutrin back in April, and for the first time in about four or five years, I feel like me again.

My understanding is that Lexapro is a refined form of Celexa, in which the inactive isomer of citalopram is removed so that only the active (against depression, anyway) isomer remains. The inactive isomer is suspected to be the cause of many of Celexa’s side effects.

That said, most people still have some sort of side effect when taking any sort of SSRI. I have experienced excessive sweating and diminished orgasms since starting the meds.

I’m grateful for Lexapro, but I don’t exactly worship at its altar. I am looking forward to the day when I can quit taking it.

Hmm…I’m on Celexa. I’ve heard of Lexapro (some of my patients are on it, but I wasn’t aware that it was a form of Celexa). I’m wondering if I should switch to it. Interesting…

Lexapro is a refined Celexa. I went from 30mg of Prozac to 10mg of Lexapro. It isn’t a miracle drug or anything but I need less and there are fewer side effects.

My husband is on Lexapro and I have expressed interest in his trying Wellbutrin. If it’s not too personal, would you mind telling more about your experiences with both of these drugs?

I started on 10 mg of Lexapro in March, and could tell a substantial difference in my anxiety and mild depression (anxiety is actually why it was prescribed to me in the first place). However, in the past month or so, I can’t tell that it’s doing anything anymore. I don’t know if I expect it to work more miracles? The doctor told me many patients take Lexapro for anxiety, but I guess I’m noticing as many anxiety-reducing effects as I thought… is there anyone who takes anti-anxiety meds that has been more successful with those?
