Aha! Still no thread on the funniest movies.

just a poll thread as to Who was funniest. well here’s my list in no particular order:

  1. salt and pepper 2 (the castle scenes)
  2. blazing saddles (everything in it except the credits)
  3. trading places (mothafaker, moi?)
  4. american pie 1
  5. assasins (for some reason, a relatively unknown banderas was hilarious)
  6. the naked gun 1 (and only 1)
  7. history of the world
  8. stalag 17
  9. singing in the rain
  10. front page
  1. Where is the poll?

  2. We did do this, but it has been awhile.

  3. I think Monty Python’s Holy Grail is probably the funniest, but it is hard to keep fresh after all these years.

This is off the top of my head, so I’m sure I am forgetting a lot. You can see I am partial to pre-Code, fast-talking wisecracks:

His Girl Friday (1940)
**Bombshell **(1933)
Airplane! (1980)
Female Trouble (1974)
One Week (1920)
Show People (1928)
Footlight Parade (1933)
Young Frankenstein (1974)
**Duck Soup **(1933)
Million Dollar Legs (1932)

My top-ten favorite comedies are, in rough order from best to not-quite-so-wonderful:

Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Trading Places
The Big Lebowski
Airplane!
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Blazing Saddles
True Lies
Ghostbusters
Groundhog Day
The Life of Brian

IN no particular order, today’s list is:

MAS*H
Airplane!
Young Frankenstein
Duck Soup
Some Like it Hot
His Girl Friday
Blazing Saddles
The Pink Panther
Dr. Strangelove
Safety Last

I’ll nominate two vastly different movies:

My Man Godfrey
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
