That’s a pretty AssHatted and unwarrented remark. I never said that Watts doesn’t give a shit. If he didn’t give a shit then the Stones would have replaced him long ago. He is considered, along with Ringo Starr, as one of the greatest drummers in rock n’ roll history. He has survived and conquered a near fatal cocaine addiction.
As for giving credit where credit is due and how much members of the Rolling Stones contribute to the song writing process, a glance at the songwriting credits for 95%+ of the Rolling stones songs has just two names: Jagger/Richards. No Ron Wood. No Mick Taylor. No Bill Wyman. Richards threatened to beat the crap out of Taylor because Keith thought he was playing too loudly during a recording session. Keith said, “[IYou play too damn loud. You’re a good guitar player, but you’re too damn loud. You don’t play on the records, you play during the concerts.*”
Which meant that Keith did all of the guitar parts for the Stones albums until Taylor left and was replaced by Ron Wood.
No Cool User Name
You are spot on about Charlie. And he has quite bit of money socked away, as he has a reputation for being a miser, as far as rock stars go.
Not quite. Taylor is ALL over the Stone’s records in the 5 years he was there. Think about “Can’t You Hear Me Knockin’” or “Time Waits for No One”. Those are two of Taylor’s best moments just off the top of my head. I have no idea where you got the impression that “Keith threatened to beat the crap out of Taylor” (cite?) but I would say, don’t believe everything you read. Everything I have ever read (over 20 Stones book here at home) states that Keith liked Taylor very much. That doesn’t mean that he and Mick were going to give him writing credits but they respected Taylor very much as a guitar player and yes, he was allowed to play on the albums.
Mick Taylor did play on the albums but I heard on one song (don’t know which one), it was decided to go to a fade out when Mick Taylor’s solo began. I’ve heard Mick Taylor was treated like crap when he was with the Stones.
I don’t remember which video it was (it may be all of them ), but there was one with a quick shot of Charlie playing the drums, and he looked sooooo bored! It was my favorite part of the video, waiting for that flash of Charlie.
