My air blower (Weed Eater, 2 cycle) was working fine last week. But now I can’t get it to start or even fire. I checked the ignition by holding the spark plug wire (ouch) and by removing the plug/watching it fire… ignition is ok. Also tried a new spark plug. Cleaned the air filter, wasn’t dirty. The gas primer works fine, in fact I tried Starting Fluid but it still doesn’t fire. The compression seems normal. It’s only 6 months old and in warranty but I remember the last air blower after about 5 years did the same thing… I just junked it and bought a new one.
Any suggestions?
Where is the mechanical experts? :smack:
As we all learned in our High School Auto Shop, for combustion you need Fuel, Spark and Air. You say there is spark, you said the air cleaner is clean, and you say there is fuel being pumped into combustion chamber. Unless it is flooded, ie. too much gas, it should start. :dubious:
Since it’s 2-cycle engine I assume you added the requisite amount of oil to the fuel for proper lubrication. Could you have added too much 2 stroke oil? Could there be some water in your gas?
Regardless, it’s still under warranty so you could take it back and see what they say. Not sure what else it could possibly be…
Agree about fuel, spark and air… should run, that’s what’s been throwing me.

No, it’s not flooded and has the correct oil mixture.
Water in gas… I eliminated all fuel problems when I tried Starting Fluid.
Yes, I plan to return it but thought maybe someone could come up with something that I had missed.
Thanks
