I’m gonna guess that this story gets some focus because of this detail:
That’s right, a federal LEO had his fucking cel phone snatched out of his hand while he was on duty. And then failed to control the situation so that the witness could alert a flight attendant, resulting in his arrest once the plane landed.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m very happy that he was caught out and I admire the way the as-yet-unnamed cel snatcher/witness’s huge stainless steel balls clank when he walks, but I’m a little dumbfounded that the guy charged with the security of the flight was not just skeevy but also apparently completely ineffectual.
I’ve never understood the sneaky upskirt photo thing. I totally get the lucky glimpse on a windy day or during the crossing of the legs, but not the deliberate invasion by camera.
I assume the passenger that grabbed his phone didn’t know he was a LEO. As far as managing the situation goes, I suppose he could badge the passenger and order him to give it back, but the guy’s probably already raised the hue and cry.
A bit more on the witness. Tom Tildrum assumed right.

Witness Rey Collazo told News 2 exclusively he first saw Bartsch, who he did not know was an on-duty air marshal, taking photographs while boarding the plane.
“I just reached over with my left hand and grabbed it, struggled with him a little bit and I got the better part of the phone and twisted and hit him with my right hand between the neck and the shoulder. Shoved him back and I took the phone,” Collazo said.

How exactly does one take up-skirt photos? Was he lying on the floor examining passegers’ feet for shoe-bombs? Or only taking photos of passengers with very short skirts?
And since those photos are the core subject of this thread, are we allowed to ask to see the pics? <D&R>
I think the article said it happened during boarding. My guess is that he was sitting in an aisle seat with the hand holding his phone extended low into the aisle, and that he was snapping pictures of women in skirts (and any Scotsmen, presumably) as they walked by to board.
Then take a photo of the mirror. Gosh, do I have to think of everything? It’s like the rest of you aren’t even trying to come up with a better technique!
