Airplane laptop outlets?

OK, I’m obviously obsessing about this trip I’m going on (first big business trip) and I’m wondering:

My laptop (a Compaq Armada 1500c) has an optional plug called an auto/airplane adapter. Is there really a place on the plane where I can plug in? Are they full of it?
Anyone know the scoop?

Not sure about all airlines Zette, but I know a lot of those phones that you pop out with a credit card have little jacks on the for modems.

I know what you mean, but I’m talking about a power source for a laptop. Compaq sells an item called a car/airplane adapter that allows you to plug into your cig lighter in the car or some port on a plane. That’s what I’m talking about here.

Thanks for the info!

So far, I have only seen them in first and business class.

They’re called EmPower or something like that. Port and Targus (same company) make an adapter for most machines. They canceled their support contract with the company I work for (I used to have to support power plugs, great joy), so I don’t have recent info. But I am fairly sure they worked with most compaqs.

Last time I flew American they had regular outlets at each seat.
