I’m looking to pick up a CardBus card for my WallStreet PowerBook. Ideally, it would be compatible with / come with (as need be) driver for MacOS 9.0.4 through the latest iterations of OS X. I assume the X-compatibility is less of a problem than the backwards-compatibility with 9, as X is pretty good about recognizing new networking hardware without me having to add drivers.
Aside from OS compatibility, reception is of course a priority, and I would of course prefer 802.11g to mere 802.11b, i.e., would really like Airport Extreme performance on this thing.
Anyone with experience, tips, etc, please let me know.
My high school had some Wallstreet PowerBooks with PCMCIA wireless networking cards… I think they were Asanté. I’m sorry I can’t really help you any more than that. Whether they make any 802.11g PCMCIA cards for older PowerBooks I don’t know - AirPort Extreme isn’t even supported on older PowerBooks and iBooks, so I wouldn’t hold out too much hope.
