The above took me about one minute. I won the battle through the pressing of two buttons - moving the camera around with my analogue stick and pressing the right trigger to read up commands.
Tom Clancy’s End War, for those of you who haven’t heard of it, is the first generation VC-RTS, or Voice Commanded Real Time Strategy and the first RTS mechanic I’ve seen on a console that actually works. Not only does it work, it makes the PC jealous and abashed for it’s inadequacy.
Sure, the core game is a simplistic rock-paper-scissor RTS (Helicopters > Tanks > Transports/Engineers > Riflemen/Artillery > Helicopters) but there’s nothing quite like your buddy staring transfixed at your TV screen while you’re rattling off commands for designated airstrikes, unloading infantry transportet accross the map, setting rally points if things go sour, garrisoning infantry and CAS-EVACing my wounded.
Sweet!
ETA: Good God, I hope they never implement this system in the Total War games, or I’ll never get anything done.
