Al Franken can bite my ass.

You’re…

He…

That…

This is a joke, right? You’ve suddenly developed an ironic sense of humor and you’re poking fun at your political allies. Right? Right?!

Because if you’re serious, man…you need to see a professional. Soon.

I’m not a conservative, either. Believe it or not, being anti-feminist and thinking they’re a bunch of whiny little liars does not make one a ‘conservative.’

Because I don’t consdier it a debatable point. The only way it becomes one is if the feminist ‘studies’ filled with flawed research methods are actually taken seriously.

It’s all just whining about wanting privilege.

Where did I ever say I was a victim of anything? Nor am I ‘offended’ by what these feminists think. I believe they’re full of shit and that they’re trying to insult me, but shit, does that actually matter to me?

While they are busy whining and hand wringing, I’m out grabbing what I want in life. Doesn’t seem like I have a problem.

How bout I just say what I’m really thinking? Scott, you’re full of misinformation and outright lies that have been spread by a subset of the population that wants to be viewed as victims so that they can continue to be handed special privileges without having to do any actual work.

This is a joke, isn’t it?

That pretty much describes me, actually.

I am afraid not. More to the point, it serves as an excellent example of the profound and rabidly partisan ignorance that has a grip on this country. I think that this is something that we need to take very, very seriously.

That’s a great-sounding term. Can you expand on the definition a little?

US Senator from Wisconsin Russ Feingold.
He RULES.

sqweels: [“Conservative offensensitivity” is] a great-sounding term. Can you expand on the definition a little?

Sure; see my comments on another instance of it in post #18 of this thread.

I think the word “offensensitivity” was coined by Berke Breathed in a Bloom County comic strip; it’s stereotypically attributed to the hyper-touchy PC miffability of liberals, feminists, minorities, etc., who are quick to jump to the conclusion that other people are disrespecting them. But I’ve noticed that the ideological opponents of those groups can be just as whiny and grumpy when they feel insulted, and so I call their reactions “conservative offensensitivity”.

But since, as catsix pointed out, not everybody so designated would consider themselves a “conservative”, I think I need another term that would better indicate “offensensitivity, but not of the stereotypical liberal/PC kind”. Maybe “reverse offensensitivity”?

I have trouble getting my head around the idea that Anne Coulter (among others) would be held up as some font of wisdom and reason. Especially in light of the vitriol she spews. In comparison, The Pit is a bunch of amateurs!

“People like you caused us to lose the war.” (to a disabled Vietnam Veteran) - Anne Coulter
“God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, ‘Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It’s yours.’”—Anne Coulter on the Hannity & Colmes show, 6/20/01
“When contemplating college liberals, you really regret once again that John Walker is not getting the death penalty. We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too. Otherwise, they will turn out to be outright traitors.” – Anne Coulter
There are no good Democrats. – Anne Coulter
“My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building.” -Anne Coulter

There is a beautiful quote that serves up as the perfect retort to the Coulters of the world:

Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

“cannot fault their facts and logic” ??? I wanna know where??? What facts and logic??? Are people really that stupid? Don’t answer that - I know the answer.

Some people fight ignorance. Clothahump flaunts his.

Yup. I got to vote for him once before I left Wisconsin.

Great guy.

Cute too.

Flaunts?

He garishly parades it around like a loser showing off a trophy wife at a high school reunion.

'Frayed knot. I’ve run the post through the Snark Deluxe Ironic Charge Induction Detector (available at the Cecil Shoppe…good product, reliable, AA batteries, requires frequent re-calibration…) and it registers less than a nanoSwift, a reading consistent with the normal background irony radiation from the existential absurdity of the Universe.

Such an astonishing measurement leads one to speculate that the poster not only intends no irony whatever but may be innocent of the very concept!

Hell yeah. Did you know he’s available now? He and his wife got divorced.

My friend Sean gets the first shot at him, though, so you’ll have to wait.

Or, as 18th-century actor James Quin once said about his contemporary, Colley Cibber, “Quarreling with such a Fellow is like shitting on a turd.”

Doors… you make me weep. With joy.

But you’ve known that for a while.

Virginia’s 2005 Republican gub candidate, Kilgore, also wants to create a gay litmus test for adoption. Sure, gay couples can’t adopt now, but what about gay single parents who MIGHT have partners who are gay!? Something has to be done!

Doors, I really understand where you are right now. I had my epiphany at a later age but it was no less painful.

I am a veteran, voted for GWB in 2000, and believed Powell and GWB when I was told that there were WMD in Iraq. Even after the war started, I still wanted to believe. Watching the administration’s total lack of vision concerning post-invasion Iraq made me sick at my stomach. I started digging deeper than the network news and found things that just made me ashamed to have supported George W. Bush. These fascist fucks in power have pushed me over to the left. While I still believe in all 10 amendments of the Bill of Rights and I still see the 2nd Ammendment as the guarantor of the other 9, I never wish to be called conservative again. I was once a soldier and will always feel the pain of soldiers in combat. I also share that pain as a disbled vet seeking care at a Veterans Administration hospital with a shrinking budget. I watch my fellow MPs go to jail for not ratting out other MPs that were committing crimes while Ken Lay gets a pass.

George W. Bush can bite my ass. You’ll think that way too when the pain subsides.

Oh, BTW, I was a Republican.

Don’t tell the Republicans that, sewalk - the party of the chickenhawks is perfectly willing to question the service and patriotism of disabled veterans.

Can we use a phrase other then “gay litmus test,” please? :stuck_out_tongue:

I envision some beurocrat walking up to a perspective adoptive parent and rubbing his forehead with a piece of paper.

“Oh oh oh… Terribly sorry, sir. But the paper turned pink, which means you’re not allowed to adopt children. Is there anything else I can do for you today?”
