Al Sharpton is a decent man

No, I was not intentionally being overly inflammatory, I was drawing an example of another black man who is dismissed in his entirety because he’s made mistakes. You’d like me to post a few names? Geez, even I’m not that much of an ass.

Are you saying that Shapton and Jackson aren’t anything more than just “black”?

Totally one dimensional , “who they are” = black guy?

  1. No you meant neutronium. Neutrons are no denser than protons. But we are aware that you cannot survive the admission of a mistake and will not tolerate it in others.

  2. No, I don’t care whether they like Al Sharpton, I want them to give him a fair hearing. If I said “like” then that was a mistake. I have said repeatedly in this thread that if they want to mention his mistakes or their dislike and then address his issues that is one thing, but to shout his faults to drown out his claims is racism.

  3. I have no problem with people pointing out that Sharpton is a schmuck, I think they are wrong, but what happens with Sharpton or Jackson is that their complaints are utterly drowned out with screaming about how bad they are.

  4. Who cares what you think? George W. Bush, July 4, 2005

Made mistakes?!?!
You yourself admitted he’s an unrepentant racist. He’s dismissed because he’s a piece of filth.

This is just insane. Instead of seeing him as a man who is dismissed because he’s a hate monger, you see him as a ‘black man’ being dismissed. Why? What does his skin color have to do with the fact that he’s scum?

Actually, calling people out without actually having the courage to name who they are, or what exactly they did that merits attention, is not only the act of an ass, but a coward and an intellectual whore.

You’ve accused Dopers, many Dopers, of being racists. Give proof or retract.

According to the Village Voice, it seems probable that Sharpton is the man who ‘took out’ Jackson. That is, released the scandals that defanged him as a national voice.

Huh.

(see link a while above)

You know, Bob. I’d like to thank you for pitting me. I’d like to say you made me see the error of my ways. I’d like to… but all I got today was a severe ankle-gumming from an unarmed and toothless man.

I shouldn’t feel superior about that, but I kind of do. I guess I’m only human.

Brickbacon, shall we continue?

It was inartful and unclear, here, I’ll rewrite it:

.I’m sincere that the people who hate Sharpton and Jackson are racists if those haters dismiss what Sharpton and Jackson have to say based on who Sharpton and Jackson are, and not on the substance of the particular complaint.

Wow. That’s remarkably stupid reasoning there. I meant neutron density, because neutrons are packed densely. Protons are too. Sometime styrofoam peanuts are also packed densely. But I still meant what I meant.

By the way, I’m sure that a good many people in this very thread have seen me admit making mistakes in the past. Your mind reading powers need some work Kreskin.

What the fuck, give him a fair hearing? If someone listens to him, and decides he’s a hack, then they’re given him a fair hearing. As for ignoring valid issues he raises, who has done that?!? Who here has, when focused with a specific claim he made which was factual, ignored it and talked about what a schmuck he was? Can you cite them?

You’re tilting at windmills, only this isn’t cute and honorable like Don Quixote, this is just pathetic.

What factual claims made by Sharpton have you put forward in this thread? Which have been gainsayed not by facts, but by ad hominems? You’ve called people racists, a pretty fucking heavy charge. Provide cites for your claims.

You may be saying that now, but you said

If you can’t see why this is needlessly inflamatory bullshit, maybe you’re beyond reason.

Strange because it still has nothing to do with race/racists…

Sure, but then he quit and look how much weight he lost.

Wow, I haven’t seen pedaling like that since the Tour d’France. And that was regular old forward pedaling, too!

  1. No you fucking idiot, neutrons are not packed densely. Styrofoam peanuts are right up next to each other. Neutrons are spaced quite a bit apart from each other. Neutronium is a theoritical (science fiction too) substance in which there is not space between the neutrons because the enormous gravity caused by the collapsing mass of a star that has run out of fusion has no force to keep them apart. This theoritical substance is 100 million times denser than neutrons in an atom, meaning if gravity did not warp time and space, normal spacing is 100 million times the “diameter” of a neutron. Please don’t think of a neutron having a definite diameter, however, as sub-atomic particles are not like that. 100 million times a difference in space would indicate you are not correct. But you are an idiot not because you do not know the nature of sub-atomic particles, but because after I pointed it out, you didn’t go look it up, but blathered as quickly as possible. Fucking. Willful idiot.

  2. You are conflating like and hate. Coincidentally much like the density difference between neutrons and neutronium. I doubt that is causal.

  3. Virtually everything he talked about during the debates during his campaign for presidency in 04. But my point is that you haven’t listended to him because you hate him so much. And that hatred is racism, not because of his mistakes. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/politics/jan-june03/sharpton_3-4.html

MARGARET WARNER: Rev. Sharpton, what is your view of the way president bush is going about trying to disarm Saddam Hussein?

AL SHARPTON: Well, I think that he has very clearly embarked on a strategy of saying that we must engage in a military action. He’s laid out from the beginning a desire for military action without having been able to convince many of our allies as well as many in the world of the necessity of that action. I think he has done it in such an overt and aggressive manner until it has now come to haunt him as he’s tried to change the rationale for such an attack. It seems that his moving around with his rationale has given the picture to much of the world that he’s just trying to justify an action that he was determined to take no matter what.

  1. It certainly includes every single person here who refuses to address an issue because Al Sharpton is the spokesperson.

Bob… you… uh. Don’t know what the word ‘racism’ means. Perhaps I should define it for you.
http://www.bartleby.com/61/71/R0007100.html

  1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others. 2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

Now, you have asserted that every single person here who refuses to address an issue because Sharpton is a spokesperson, is a racist.

Leaving aside the fact that most people here would, in fact, address most issues of politics, whether or not Sharpton was a spokesperson, exactly how is that a racist position?

If one would address an issue if Barack Obama was a spokesperson, but not Sharpton, how is it racist? What if it were Bill Cosby and not Al Sharpton? What if it were Colin Powell? What if it were George Will and not Al Sharpton? Is that racist?

You see, in order to have an exchange of communication, we must be using the same words, with the same definitions. Apparently, you have some odd definition of the term ‘racism’ that doesn’t exactly match anyone else in the world’s.

Care to share it?

Sure. You’ll listen to Ted Kennedy, the murderer (manslaughterer) of Chappaquidick on health care, but walk away screaming about Al Sharpton on any subject. Or Bill Clinton the adultering weasel when he talks about hurricane relief. Or Henry Kissinger. Or Robert McNamara. It’s the degree of the reaction from people who “absolutely refuse to listen to Al Sharpton” he’s that Tawana Brawley guy.

I… will?

Wow, Bob, you… really… wait, how is that racism? Can you define the difference between those men and Sharpton for me?

Is it that they’re… white? Is that what you really think, Bob?

Wow, you really are a racist, aren’t you?

Wait… everyone who hates Al Sharpton supports Bill Clinton… and Henry Kissinger? Ted Kennedy… and Robert McNamara? Is there anyone in this entire country who doesn’t despise at least half those people?

You’re… um. You’re kinda crazy, aren’t you Bob?

And you punk out again. Miller, if you truly hated me that much, you’d never punk out on me. Shit, even Bob here doesn’t resort to empty, hollow, message board threats. Must be very comfortable being able to post something like that that I’d likely get banned for.

Not only fuck you, but fuck every single thing you stand for. Regardless the subject. If you told us tomorrow you were baptised, I’d become an Atheist.

Can we get back to the thread now, you punk? And keep in mind threats are seemingly allowed here now. Never know whom you’ll meet on a board.

Al Sharpton is a rational articulate man. (He is not a rambling Fred Phelps.) Nobody on this board can even write as well as he can speak off the cuff. (Well, nobody that I’ve seen.) He has a great gift for speaking and it’s all oooohh, that wicked Tawana Brawley man. Same with Jesse Jackson.

And the reasons given? What trivial crap by comparison to the stuff that people excuse or tolerate in white speakers. Do you racists turn off all white speakers who have committed such mistakes? No.

All right ya mooks. Either take it outside and fight like little boys or cut it out. Besides which, my weener is bigger than either of yours.

Cite?

Al Sharpton has incited riots in the past. Not once, but multiple times. Not merely disturbances of the peace, but bottle-throwing race riots.

Al Sharpton got eight people dead at Freddy’s Fashion Mart.

Al Sharpton continues to support a fuckwit extremist anti-semite. (As of 02 or so)

Al Sharpton narced on Jesse fooling around on his wife, then fooled around on his own wife.

How, exactly, is this trivial, Bob?
