Yeah, I saw that, too. Luckily he got zero percent of the vote in New Hampshire, so I don’t think we have anything to worry about.
AL Sharpton in the Democratic nomination race servces the same function that Pat Buchanan or Pat Robertson served in their various Republican primary races. The difference being that there are enough crackpot Republican voters to have made the Pats factors. Proving once again that Democrats are more sensible.
NH is 98% White, and Sharpton appeals almost exculsively to Blacks. Wait for the results from S.C. to see if he has any real pull among his core constituency.
I am amazed that anybody , black or white , could support the candidacy of someone as tainted as Sharpton. The man is a liar, a cheat, and complicit in the deaths of several people.
If YOU think such a man deserves to be the president, I wouldsay that your judgement isopen to question.
Another thing…how does he get away with not paying the judgement against him? Could’tPagones sic a constable on him?
Because lord knows there’s no room for the lying, cheating, death-complicit man in presidential politics…

I just thought I’d post this as a marginally less biased view of who Al Sharpton is.
Not to say that he hasn’t done bad things, but people are more than the sum of their mistakes. Or didn’t you get that memo, Airman Doors?
Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make everyone think that he was a douchebag. I make that mistake with lots of people, focusing on their failings rather than their positive attributes. After all, once you get past the fact that Ted Bundy murdered scores of people I’m sure he was a fine human being, and he was without a doubt an excellent butcher. :rolleyes:
Sharpton is exactly what I said he is. In the Tawana Brawley case he defamed people, accused them of heinous crimes, then when it came out that the whole thing was a hoax and he was discovered to be a liar he didn’t even bother to apologize or pay his fine in full. He simply pretended it didn’t happen.
The dude is a contemptible piece of garbage race-baiter and craven opportunist. Period.
That’s some interesting info there, Sqube. It’s good to see that he’s beginning to tone himself down, and to speak and act more responsibly. But to my knowledge (and feel free to correct me if I’m wrong), he has NEVER apologized to the innocent men he smeared in the Tawana Brawley thing, nor has he EVER apologized for being the driving force behind the anti-Jewish violence. That would be a good step towards being more responsible. I am a fairly liberal democrat; I have absolutely no use for the man. The sum of his mistakes is the sum of a litany of idiotic, racist, and demagogic actions throughout the years. He’s got a lot of making up to do.
I was fairly non-commital towards Al Sharpton until he went on his rant about Howard Dean not having any black staff members at one of the democratic debates. He came across as someone who thinks all white people are against him and all other black people down. I can just picture Sharpton saying:
“Why does snow gotta be white? I know, it’s mother nature trying to keep the black man down.”
Or
Why are eggs so white? I know, it’s those racist chickens."

Did anybody catch that HILARIOUS Conan O’Brien piece on Sharpton the other night? Sharpton was complaining that the Iowa caucuses were racist…because “caucus” comes from “caucasian”!! 
I saw the Donahue show that aired during the Brawley brouhaha. When asked “Why didn’t the hospital find any semen in her body,” the replies were:
They did. It’s on the record. (nope)
Tawana had been given a bath before the tests. (nope)
Cause the hospital staff was white (?).
Believe it or not, there are still people who believe her story. :rolleyes:
