alabama killer?

hey,

i have heard this story and everyone i have heard it from tells me it is true. However, since it was told to me at a camp, and the fact that i have done some research and found no evidence of this mans existance, i have my doubts to say the least. Here is the story:
In alamaba, in the late 90’s there was a guy with the last name Bistle or bisle or bissel (not sure of the spelling). His first name may have been Henry. Anyway, he drove a red pickup truck in the rural areas of alamaba near fort payne. he was insane and had stabbed a man twice (the man survived), and attempted to run over another man (who also survived). He was pulled over for a speeding ticket and found to have a mutilated female body in the bed of the truck with some organs removed. I think it later turned out to be his girlfriend. Some varients of the story was he was found with her esophogus in his pocket. He was arrested and brought to the nearest jail, which was in Tuscaloosa. He may have been transfered or something, but he killed himself i think 2 weeks after his arrest.

I have failed to find any evidence of this man existing in the local news archives, wikipedia, or any mention of his anywhere. However, i have only looked on the internet and a more thourough search of the county records and be needed. Any help you could give me on this would be most appreciated.
Thanks

Should have tried one more spelling. Hayward Bissell:

Most links you will find seem to concern a “true crime” book written about the case - “Blood Highway” by Shiela Johnson.

Thanks!

JFTR, Tuscaloosa is nowhere near Fort Payne. They’re 2-3 hours apart.

Ah, Tuscaloosa!
Gem of the South!
It’s the center of America’s Elephant Dentistry Industry, doncha know.

I can honestly say that I’ve never been privileged with bumping a +10 year thread on an oldskool message board, but it’s the first time I’ve ever had reason to.

I can tell you that, yes, this camp story you heard is real, and it actually happened. I’m close with one of his relatives. His name is Hayward.

It was only after a sudden, unconsented change in his antidepressant medication that he started to act out of the ordinary. 2 weeks later, his wife and son are dead in the back seat of his truck and he has no idea what happened, where he is, or that he did it.

Let this be a lesson to anyone reading this. Mental illness is not a joke, and switching brain altering medications rapidly is extremely dangerous. Seek help at the first signs of mental illness, and educate yourself.

“Is that an esophagus in your pocket, or…?”

That link is no longer valid. I googled his name to get a valid one, but after reading about this monster, I’m not going to provide it. Google at your own risk.
