Long night?
No, seriously. Is there another guy who fills the same “ecological niche” as Thicke that I might be confusing him with. TV dad, famous son, dead?
I agree that 69 is too young, but otherwise a quick death while playing hockey with someone you love in sunny California in winter would seem the ideal death for a Toronto boy.
Random trivia: he was in a relationship and ultimately engaged to Kristy Swanson during the early seasons of Growing Pains. They started dating when she was 17 and he was 40. (They never married.)
In How I Met Your Mother, Robin used to be a minor Canadian pop star in the 90’s. In a video of her second single, “Sand Castles in the Sand”, Alan Thicke played her dad.
That was my first thought, but I’m glad you posted it first.
That’s one heck of a co-winky-dink.
Hmmmm…
Bill Cosby is alive, but his own son was murdered. Different, I know.

While (so far as I know) Mr. Cameron is not a member of this board, it’s in really poor form to wish death on anyone, outside of the BBQ Pit.
John Ritter, maybe? TV dad (8SR), famous father, two actor sons, died suddenly in 2003.
Hard to imagine any more Canadian way to die, except maybe drinking Labatt at a Rush concert and getting trampled by a francophone moose wearing a toque.
…while eating Poutine.
Also, your last word has to be “eh?”
RIP
in the Motherverse Robin and Thicke worked together a lot - he was on the show about a half dozen times referring to her Canadian pop star past.
Thank you.
RIP Mr. Thicke, may you live on in reruns forever, in both the show you starred in as well as the ones whose themes you wrote.
Does anyone remember another, later sit-com he was in where he was the talent on a talk show? The show was about a single young girl who worked on his show, only I don’t remember the girl, the name of the show or any other details besides Alan Thicke played a very Ted Baxter character.
Hope and Gloria. He was a huge jerk on the show, kind of like Bill McNeal.
I liked it when I was a kid.
Thanks!
Like. I wonder if that’s ever happened to anyone?
Cause of death has been established. Aortic dissection.
