If they’re friends or work colleagues it’s very possible. I share IP addresses with at least three other posters on this board and before paid registration the number would have been close to seven other posters all due to corporate IP’s and using machines in friends houses to post.
I did look it up and about half of those quotes are not from where he said they’re from. How is that not giving false information?

The banning didn’t have to be permanent. Aldebaran could have apologized profusely and promised to keep his nose clean. He chose not to.
Nothing like that. I’m at a university. Maybe I used its server to post here. I have such a huge post account that I don’t remember.
Aldebaran can access that server. I don’t know if he uses it or if its IP’s are in his in his proxies. I know he uses my other IP’s at times. That’s why I think it a remote coincidence for one of them to look like used by me and him.
I don’t know anything about computers, only to put it on and off and use a few programs and surf on the internet. Beat me, I don’t know how they do proxy chains. I was a bit angry when I said that about my IP.
If they ban me I have no search function. Inconvenient but I don’t think it can kill me.

This statement is, quite simply, false. Firstly, anyone who takes even a cursory glance at New Iskander’s thread will note that at this point NOT A SINGLE POSTER so far has endorsed, or even expressed the slightest sympathy with, New Iskander’s viewpoint. Just the opposite, in fact, he currently seems to be getting mercilessly flamed.
Secondly, the OP states she has been around here for a long time; she may then remember that about eighteen months ago or so various persons who hang out at a certain white supremacist message board (whose name starts with the letter ‘S’) began posting messages preaching race hatred here. Nearly all of them were banned within a few posts; one was allowed to remain a member for a little while and to post to a lengthy GD thread only because it was relatively polite and well-behaved, given the subject matter, and becasuer the ongoing discussion turned out ot be relatively interesting.
Sorry, but the ‘double standard’ charge really doesn’t hold much water.

It is entirely conceivable that someone could have a dormant mentor in the form of a 55-year-old non-traditional student from Belgium who shares the same outlook, sense of righteousness, inflexibility, (possible) IP address, elements of writing style and preoccupation with Mehitabel. Why not? Perhaps they are cousins.

That is exactly why I believe New Iskander should be warned. Aldebaran was not banned because he was scorned by many here, although he was. He was banned for a persistent pattern of misbehavior, accompanied by warnings. New Iskander certainly deserves to have the straws start piling up.
I believe the powers-that-be did not think that he would keep his nose clean.
Belgium is really Andorra. I swear, I just don’t understand how Europeans keep doing better on geography than Americans.

No. He said that he didn’t do any type of research. He gave you the lead to verify them if you liked to do that. That’s why you were able to do it. And maybe your sources are in the wrong, who knows? How can you proof it isn’t? On websites like this it always ends with one word against the other. Readers are free to accept one of both or none.
If the quotes would’ve been posted without the notes you had a strong case against him. No discussion on that.
As it is you have nothing but a member of a website who posts a few quotes. He completes them with leads to where they are said to be published. He makes it known that he didn’t do any type of research on it. He has them. He posts them like he has them. If I remember this well, he also said he would without saying verify things like that if he ever wants to use them somewhere in his work. Of course he would.
Do you expect every poster on a message board to do an academic research on what he posts before he brings it up? Find me such white ravens and I buy you a drink.
If you want to know it, Aldebaran is such a white raven. He has years of academic research on Islam behind him and stil does it. Everything he posted on that is supported by his knowledge and research. He said he had a doctorate on the Israel/Palestine situation too? I didn’t read that.

Mehitabel must be maddened when she sees that a member of this website knows what keeps her awake at night. She can’t even forget her obsession now that he’s banned. Mehitabel he isn’t Belgian. He doesn’t live here. He lives in the Middle East. You made yourself look like a fool to me for as long as he was a member.
I said what I wanted and had to say. I should’ve said many things earlier. I’m back to reading only. I’ve not payed for my membership to get myself upset by nasty dishonest debates with the enemies of Aldebaran.
The SDMB of today is a lost case. When payment comes up it’s time to quit.

Colibri: Mails were sent after the first one. Even in that first one he admitted he was at fault too. He didn’t ask to be reinstated immediately. He didn’t see that as a logic step for them to take. He said he understood their decision but that he hoped they would reconsider after no matter how much time they think is needed for them to come to that.
Read his LiveJournal if you want to comment on what happened. Now you know nothing. I think they should reconsider things in a few months from now. Wrong things were done at both sides.

One of my sources was a website operated by the Israeli government. I doubt they’d be wrong about anything attributed to Ariel Sharon.
After what happened to december, I’d expect anyone posting a series of qoutes here to verify that they are accurate. Aldebaran didn’t and they ended up being a contributing factor to his being banned. C’est la vie.
Anybody remember, a while back we had a poster named Dread Cthulhu? Got banned for staying too much “in character,” as it were?
I’ve generally viewed New Iskander’s style the same way. I think he really believes he’s Alexander the Great.

At a fairly high personal cost, Mehitabel helped expose a nasty troll, a fraud of the highest order. I fully support her pursuit of this issue.
