Alienware order issues

Watching G4 TechTv a couple months ago I noticed all the computers for the gaming competitions were alienware machines, and I’ve only had a mac for a while and was looking to get a pc machine for games, especially since I already have some older ones that are still fun but I haven’t been able to play. Plus I wanted a laptop for school since its becoming more neccesary lately.

So I decided on Alienware. I read reviews of alienware to make sure, one of them said they received their machine “fast” in only 9 days. Having a stylish looking pc seemed cool so I went with one of the low priced gaming laptops, powerful enough for the old games at least, and strategy games.

I ordered on the 13th, the website lists 14 steps, last time I checked I was on step 5! :smack:

Then tonight, checking order status it doesn’t recognize my order ID at all anymore. What kind of stupid scam are they running anyway. After I ordered I noticed some people complaining about I guess the same thing. Considering the price on the laptop I bought is absurd for a low end model, they should at least have good service, so I can find out if their machines are really quality or not.

I mean what the hell are they assembling in 14 steps! Its a laptop. It took them three days to get past the step that says verifying billing, HELLO! thats a one minute process at most on many sites. I guess I know where they are getting all their money for advertising from. If I could I’d just cancel the damn machine now and go get one from a store for a lower price that still runs all the things I want. But I just thought maybe alienware could possibly be a quality company. I could build my own laptop by hand in sixteen days, I mean come on, what kind of reality control are we talking about. This is like some corrupt 6 to 8 weeks order by mail outfit, get with the times. I even checked carefully when ordering that all my components were at 7 days not 21.

I should have known that the most advertized gaming pc company would be the most dodgy craptaculous one.

Now I have to try to talk to live support, but that will be tough from what I’ve read about other people ordering through them. Sure contrasts with my Mac purchase, I bought my mac and they upgraded its features twice before shipping for free because they were moving into new product lines.

You might want to register your problems here. They’ve been known to respond to issues there (occasionally). I doubt they will respond to yours, but others will see it.

I don’t get it, why don’t you call?

Its been straightened out this morning, but still a 14 step process where each process takes three days is a big surprise that isn’t really mentioned on the website. They talk about it as if steps are good and they’re making gold plated laptops or something (that would explain the prices.)

Guess thats advertising’s effect, I’ve never even heard of any other brand of gaming pc’s except ones from regular pc companies.

Well, considering that they’re one of the only independent manufacturers of specialty consumer hardware on the market, I’d say they’re doing pretty good. Nobody else caters to home theater nuts and gamers like Alienware does.

Be patient, Grasshoppa.
