I am looking for information regarding all types of alcohol. Lager & brew, spirits & rum, wine & champagne, etc. I basically need to know what the difference is between these types of alcohol, and what types of alcoholic beverages exist of this nature. But all the websites I have found when searching for “alcohol” talk more about the damaging effects of it.
So any help would be appreiated.
When it comes to brew, I’ve had plenty of experience.
Ale: This is top fermentation at higher temperatures. 6% alcohol, darker, heavier, and more bitter than beer.
Lager: This is bottom fermentation, aged six weeks to six months in a cool cellar. It is dry, light, and carbonated.
Porter: 6-9% alcohol. Heavy, dark-brown ale (top fermented) made with malt (roasted barley) browned by drying at high temperatures.
Stout: 7-10% alcohol. Dark, sweet ale made of roasted malt and more hops than porter. Caramel malt or sugar may be added.
Hebrew: One belonging to a religious faith known as Judaism.
Do a search for bartending guides or bartending software [tells how to mix drinks]. They typically have good glossaries describing the differnt types of alcohol.
It’s been a while since I looked, but I think Bar Back was the bartending software.
What is the difference between bourbon and whiskey?
Bourbon is whiskey made from corn. It got its name from the county in Kentucky where it was originally made, IIRC.
I once had a “Old Mr Boston” mixed drink book that covered whats what and why very well if memory serves .
