Interestingly, that’s how I remembered I had definitely seen it in physical print - in one of the Discworld novels, someone is trying to speak in the same way as the Death character (who speaks in capitals), but the other character just ends up shouting instead.
And, ironically, it’s “Pine”.
Death speaks in a way that goes right inside your head, overwhelms all other sounds, and is impossible to ignore, but is nevertheless not shouting. Shouting is probably the best human approximation, though.
