Which is a scandal in itself. No way K vs. K deserved that.
ATJ is one of the five best films ever, and I think Fosse is one of the most brilliant directors ever. Cabaret might feel a little stale, due to LM and having heard the title song a gazillion times, but as a movie, it’s also very, very good. I think his style as directors is linked to him being a dancer and choreographer. He let the camera participate in the action, almost as a character in itself. It moves like an invisible onlooker would move around a room to check out different things. To bad his last movie was Star80.
And having his gf audition makes perfect sense. If David Mamet did the same, we wouldn’t have to sit through the crappy acting of Rebecca Pidgeon, which spoils all his work for me nowadays.
