All this and I didn't even win. (might be a little scary)

Anyone that lives around Eastern-Ontario would know about the “Ex” (Canadian Exhibition) in Ottawa. I decided to go (for the 4th time) to bring a friend a gift for her birthday. While I walk in, I hear a DJ at one of the local radio stations plugging some contest that started in 30 minutes. “Whats the prize?” I ask.
“Meet and Greet with Sum41 and concert tickets”
Sum 41. Meet. My brain can’t handle this excitement! I walk off to try and win a prize and I promise I’ll return in 30 minutes. <Fast Forward 30 minutes> (no we didn’t win any prizes). So here I am at the 101.1 X-Fm booth, everyones looking at me and some other teens hoping to win those tickets. Wait! “Excuse me, what do I have to do?”
“Lay on the ground and we trace you out with chalk. Last person on the ground in their outline wins.”
Easy enough? So here we are. I get about 10x10 feet to find a nice spot to lay down. I pick a little area close to the stage out of the sun and begin to get chalked. I’m allowed to move my head up and look around, so I start scoping out the competition. Already I know one of them will drop out soon. 30 minutes in, someone stands up. 13 remain. Someone just found out that they needed to leave a couple of minutes ago. 12 left. The kid who just left offered his friend a ride home, 11 left. Nearly at the 45 minute mark the last of the “friends” gets up and leaves. They all are given a small cd as a prize just for comming out. We’re now at the 1 hour mark. 6 airplanes, 32 bubbles (there was a bubble machine right by us), 6 fluffy things, and 3 people talked to me. I just close my eyes for a second and all of a sudden, water is poured all over me. WTF? I thought I just had to be on the ground, no water or anything. Now this is war! I could go on for ages but I somehow became the crowds favourite. All in all, I had a snake put up my shirt, a tarantula on my face, a scorpion in my mouth (yes, in my mouth), had to eat 5 crickets and 10 mealworms. 4 hours and 6 minutes after I entered, the DJ came over to inform me my head was out of the line. I nearly cried! 3 of us left, the other 2 looked as though they would go any second, and I lost!
Well I got a shirt, 3 song demo CD, and 2 tickets to Snow Jam (a concert series with snowboarding and skiing in fall with real snow!). Aww well.

God Damn. Why did you HAVE to eat all that stuff and have the scorpio and snake put on you (eww, I give you alot of credit, I would punched somebody)? But was it a requirement ? Would you have lost if you said get that away from me?

Maybe it was “if you dont like it then get up…” but explain a bit please.

You had the option to either a) Drop out. b) Go through with the task. Someone nearly had a breakdown when it came to eating the mealworms. People on the TV show Fear Factor wouldn’t eat a mealworm for $50,000 but us kids would do it for concert tickets… kinda funny now that you think about it.
