Allergy Shots During Pregnancy

So, I’ve seen all the sites that repeat the same lines that allergy shots can be continued during pregnancy at the preconception maintenance dosage but that it is not advised to continue them if one becomes pregnant during the buildup stage.

I would like to start allergy shots because they’ve worked for my family members and since we’ve been successful with our family planning/fetus avoidance so far, I think we can continue to do so without becoming pregnant during the buildup phase (and my allergist said that if we do, we just continue the shots at the last dosage, or decreased to avoid reaction) but I’d like to know a little bit more about possible benefits or longterm effects on the fetus–>child and all I could find was this very old, very small sample group study. Warning, pdf. Despite the small size, those are encouraging results. I hate having allergies, being a relatively recent development, and since the husband has them as well, anything we could do to stack the odds in favor of Future Hatchling would be nice.

Anybody have anything more to offer on the subject? Newer studies with bigger sample sizes would be great to see…stupid pregnant women and their reticence to be scientific study participants while baby baking.
