I turned on my computer yesterday morning and when the thing was running it start up process, I saw a dialog box informing me that an automatic update of AD-AWARE was running. When that finished, I found that I had been blessed the two new tool bars, named in the title box of this thread.
Has something terrible been done to my computer? I ask because as of yesterday, i cannot open my DVD drive. I don’t know if there is any cause and effect----I can’t remember the last time i had occasion to use the DVD drive.
Computer is Dell Inspiron running Windows 7 Home Edition with Firefox Browser and AVG Free anti-virus.
Have you recently installed anything else (such as printer management software, or just any other application)? - alot appbar appears to be a bit of crappy bloatware, but not necessarily malignant (it’s listed and reviewed on CNET).
Sometimes these browser bars are bundled with the installers of other applications or drivers some not-too-obvious checkbox you need to uncheck during the clickthrough, if you don’t want the bar.
I haven’t installed anything recently except for the automatic u[date i listed above. Sometimes I think computers are not very friendly, especially to people who know nothing about them.
