Name the first and the last. Let’s start with vhs tapes of theatrical releases. What was the first movie released in that format, and what was the last?
The last Hollywood film to be released on VHS was A History of Violence in 2006. I’d be surprised if there weren’t later releases overeseas though.
Overseas records are murky at best, so lets stick to American theatrical movies released on vhs in the U.S.A.
The first movie released on VHS was a Korean movie, The Young Teacher, in 1976. The first American movies released on VHS were The Sound of Music, Patton, and MASH in 1977.
Twister was the first movie released on DVD, in 1997.
The first movies released on Blu-Ray were 50 First Dates, The Fifth Element, Hitch, House of Flying Daggers, Underworld: Evolution, xXx, and The Terminator in 2006.
That’s pretty accurate…but you may have blown someone else’s “first and last” questions with your additional firsts.
Who’s got the next “first and last”?
First and last MLB home runs of the 20th century. (Who hit them, for what team, in what park, on what date)
ETA: Let’s count Jan 1, 1900- Dec. 31, 1999 as the 20th century.
Last: Jim Leyritz, New York Yankees, Yankee Stadium, October 27th, game 4 of 4.
Sorry for killing your fun game, Czarcasm. But, you did get the Omega portion right!
First and last lines in the Star Wars Saga (in release order not episode order).
Written or spoken?
First: Did you hear that? They shut down the main reactor. We’ll be destroyed for sure. This is madness.
Last: Oh no.
Both by C3P0.
What a bizarre idea…
Got it!
