If by “that thread” you mean your original “1000 Posts” thread, of course people are interested in it. It’s a locked thread, and that tends to pique people’s interest. There can be an 8 page trainwreck in the pit that I ignore, but once it’s locked down, I can’t resist seeing what the hell brought it to its demise. 
Dude, chill. You posted a thread that everybody, including yourself knew was going to get locked down. You got your recognition of 1000 posts. Happy? Continuing to gripe about the locking and the posters who responded before the lock is making you look like a fool.
(Full disclosure: I did the same thing (post to announce, not whine about the locking thereof) on my 5000th post. Some milestones you just want to yell out. But don’t bitch when somebody tells you to sit down and shut up.)
Not a good analogy. The mods decide if someone pisses their pants or not, they don’t need ‘helpful’ comments to that effect from third parties, let alone gleeful ones.
I certainly didn’t know it would be locked. There’s no rational way you can claim otherwise; did I tell you that somehow ahead of time? Are you omniscient?
The implicit message in your posts is that you simply know better than I do since you’ve been around longer, and therefore it’s OK to be happy in a way that you need to share with everyone that the thread will be closed. “I know more than him, haha! Look everyone, I’m a better Doper! This guy’s error gives me a chance to prove it! Ooooh here comes a mod to chastize, wheeee! It’s comin, here it comes…” What in hell is that all about? I’m very specifically taking that to the Pit because I hate to see that behavior here.

Yeah, I guess that’s one way to read it. Or you could interpret it as good-natured ribbing over an understandable misstep in posting ettiquette. I guess there is a sort of clique at work, here, but it’s a pretty easy clique to get into. The way in is, basically, to not start threads like this one, where you over-react to almost imaginary slights and blow a minor issue about the board’s rules into a huge hissy fit. Seriously, man, let it go. It’s just not worth the grief.

Excuse me, but I think you have this backward. There are a good many posters (in the Pit especially) who enjoy chastizing the mods. It’s one of the few boards where posters are allowed to criticize TPTB. I’ve done it. Specifically the guy upthread who isn’t a mod anymore. Called him a power drunk nazi. IIRC, he called me a whiny little bitch. The language was hardly superior, but definitely abusive on both sides. Neither of us felt we needed to mind our manners. Nor have the countless other posters who have pitted mods and admins. You don’t have to bow down and kiss jackbooted toesies. Mods don’t always win. I’ve seen threads re-opened after deliberation; one quite recent. Don’t expect it to happen. Decisions are usually final. But we’re not all the ass kissing sycophants you make us out to be.
You call those those comments sadistic? You need to get out more. And, most people aren’t in those threads cheering for the mods to ban anyone or close threads. Why should they? They recognize melt down train wreck fodder when they see it. They don’t want it stopped, they want it extended.
First thought when reading the OP: “Oh, buck up…your post party got closed, waa waa waa. Calling the lockdown was ‘asshole behavior’?? Boo hoo”.
Then I looked at the original thread again, and I’ll be damned…yup, I did display asshole behavior: I didn’t fully read the OP.
You asked a legitimate question in there, one quite suited for MPSIMS, but I just saw the first line or two and jumped right in with my “lockdown” comment. That thread really didn’t really meet the definition of “post party”, and never should’ve been closed (one could possibly cite This is my 877th post as evidence).

I’m “in the Pit, man” because one isn’t allowed to raise moderation issues anywhere else. I think that that rule allows Peanut Gallery potshots (like your own, Genghis) at people who might have legit points and aren’t taken seriously.
Yes, that was abusive. I post that I note I’ve been around a while and like learning things, ask a question about people’s posting frequency compared to my own, and what do I get for it? Three know-it-alls celebrating the thread getting locked before it happens then more shit from others when I raise the point of the inherent dickheadedness and extreme irony of those 3 posts.
At least SkipMagic had a kind word and wasn’t a jackass about enacting a policy. Most of the rest of you are just being jerks.
And for the most part I do stay out of the Pit, not because I lack the intestinal fortitude or thick skin to read and type insults on a screen, but because it’s a dramatic waste of time in most cases in my opinion. Unfortunately this is the designated forum for discussing moderation issues and the only place that I can let others know that I think taking the time to celebrate the closing of another person’s earnest, polite thread noting how much I enjoyed learning things here takes a particular variety and degree of jerk-ass-ism.
