I’m old and have a lead lined pouch for protecting camera film when going through airport x-ray machines. Like this.
Are there any alternate/modern/current/hip uses for this? It’s in great shape, it was well made and didn’t see much use.
The only thing I could think of was putting my toll road transponder in it to keep it from being seen when I drive under the toll readers, but I haven’t yet come up with a reason why I’d want to do that.
Incorrect! I have one too; they’re not that big. The correct answer is you could be the radioactive caretaker for a (single) small, unradiated marsupial.
Hmmm, I’ve got a flight this weekend & some old film at home; if there’s room in the carryon…
My recollection is that when I did use one they never checked the contents; yeah, I only put film in them but still, this is a pouch specifically designed to block the x-ray machine. :smack:
Funnily enough, I just ran across mine when cleaning out a closet. I hadn’t seen it in years and didn’t realize that I still had it. It’s going to the thrift store unless I see a very good idea in the next couple of days.
Put a note that reads, “Made you look, you dirty crook, you stole your mother’s pocketbook!” in it, then carry it with you in carry-on luggage and see how often you get special screening.
You might want to wait until the TSA agent’s start getting paid again…
I highly doubt a kid is going to use an old film pouch as a toy. I’m sure their parents will keep them somewhere safe like with the guns and ammo. Those things were pretty common up until not too long ago and I’m not aware of any problems.
