Trump and his team are simply laying the groundwork for the future.
When unemployment hits 10%, they will just have alternate facts that say it’s now below 3%. When we enter two consecutive quarters of negative growth, they will say that the economy is growing more than ever. They want facts to be meaningless, so they can substitute their own reality.
In order to do this, they have to destroy the media. This is the plan. This is what they are going to do.
Mara Liasson of NPR tried to get Spicer to commit to which unemployment number he cares about, but he was too slippery. It was like trying to nail Jell-o to the wall.
Actually, even Fox News took Spicer to task about the inauguration crowd size. Trump has slagged them plenty of times in the past, so they’re not exactly friends.
What is somewhat interesting to me is that Sean Spicer is not a novice. He has a rather conventional career leading up to this job, so the notion of “crafting a message” for the media should not be new to him. I get that in Trump-land everything is a negotiation and one way to start a negotiation is to go straight to bustin’ the balls, but egads! It’s as if he’s never done this before, like he’s way out of his league.
Look. I know this is back-tracking a bit, but have you looked at the buttons? They are, yes, cats, also known as pussies. What the ever loving fuck? Tell me that wasn’t deliberate.
Maybe the press has been too afraid to nail anyone to the wall, or it’s easier to not do it? I would love to see someone stop this guy (or any of them) and yell “Enough of this bullshit. Just answer the question”. But that will never happen.
donnie has slagged who? Fox? They won him the election. They had people pimping for him hours very day for over a year. It was his home away from home.
I’ll agree with looks, hair, etc. Those aren’t fair and not in her control. But she chose to wear something silly and unflattering. That’s taste, and like her taste in her boss (and his penchant for Late Century African Strongman Decor) I think it’s fair game.
It is a form of judgement, after all. And it’s not like she wore that because she couldn’t afford better- I bet that outfit cost more than any article of clothing I own (and I wear suits on a regular basis)
ETA: Yep. According to Post #74, $3600. I have a handful of $100 Brooks Brothers shirts I save for special, and one BB coat (NOT Suit) that are the most expensive clothes I own.
When reality is being upended and tortured by orwellian pronouncements and a mentally ill leader it’s important to always think about the feelings of the fascists.
