Alternative history from a non-Western perspective?

I’ve been reading a good bit of alt history lately, and I’ve noticed that the vast majority focus on Western countries, whether it’s the Civil War, WWII, and other less prominent events. The one exception so far is Kim Stanley Robinson’s The Years of Rice and Salt, which I rather enjoyed. What are your recommendations for other non-Western alt history?

Don’t have any, but I thought the KSR book was a bit of a copout, what with the reincarnation device that was used to kick start the industrial revolution. What, KSR, you don’t think they could’ve figured it out on their own?

John Barnes has some, the first is called Zulu Heart. I keep meaning to read it; it been in my to-read pile for ages!.
