I wonder if any of the teeming millions will be able to offer me recommendations. I’ve been a long-time subscriber to Penthouse and if they’re really going to cease publishing, I’d like to know where to shift my subscription dollars – What mag is closest to Penthouse in content, with professional-quality hardcore content with attractive models? Hustler, with its potty fixation and borderline racist humour and overly tattooed models, is too raunchy for my taste. Any recommendations?
I’d say Club, Club International, but then again I haven’t skimmed the adult magazines in over a year.
What’s the difference between Club and Club International? Is one available inside the U.S. and the other overseas?
The Internet.
I second that. Buy a printer for the computer and you can download high quality naked women of all colors until the end of time.
Do you read Penthouse? I guess after one is finished masterbating, they are a little tired and bored, and there is something to read there. Penthouse used to have a column every year that stated in their opinion, the 10 worst coillege football teams. A little sports reading after waxing the pole.
I don’t like having to look at a screen. I like having a magazine that’s professionally formatted. And, yes, once I’ve looked at the pictures, I read.
I’m embarrassed to admit that I actually read Playboy and Penthouse. Not the impossible letters either, the articles. A few have been quite good.
I read them too. There are quite frequently good articles. Often there are outstanding writers as well.
What is the difference between Club and Club International?
So they’re finally closing the mag? Just checked their website and they’re still selling subscriptions there. I was a big fan of Penthouse in the 70s and 80s. To me their “golden age” was the mid 70’s, while I was in high school. I eventually quit buying the mag sometime in the early 90s as all the pictorals started to look the same to me. I was shocked a few years ago, when I picked one up and found they were now hardcore.
Guess I shouldn’t have been surprised. I knew that Guccione had teamed up with the publisher of the hardcore mag, Private. I’ve seen a couple of these and I must say that the photography is first rate. A bit lacking in editorial contant though, and you won’t find it in your local Circle K store. They get a little extreme for me though, with some fetish content (rubber, etc.).
Not only Penthouse, but most of the men’s mags lost me in the 90s. Club was my favorite in the late 70s but they changed too. Back then, there was a big difference between that mag and Club International. Club was in a bigger format and a different photography style. CI was more like Oui back then, with a more European look to the pictorals and the models.
Leg Show was good a few years ago, they were more like the old fashion glamour mags, but they have changed too, to keep up with the competition.
So about all I buy is an occasional Playboy nowadays, maybe one every couple of years, if there is something of interest in it. But I don’t care for their fixtation on large breasted blondes (also a complaint about Penthouse).
But these differences no longer exist, I guess?
