Indeed. Everything we do has risks, and if we are paralyzed by the possibility of some worst-case scenario then we end up cowering inside our houses only to die of radon poisoning.
The guy running with a bloody face trying to stop a car could have been me, once. I’ve been assaulted, managed to flee and was chased down by the people who attacked me. Except for the fact it wasn’t on the motorway, but in the subburbs, and the cars were already stopped at a red light.
The people in the first car just ignored me, the people in the second one (there were 4 or 5 of them in the car) told me something like “we’re not heading this way” (Like I was a hitchiker asking for a ride to somewhere, this response was totally meaningless in this circumstance). The light turned green, they drove away and I had to resume running. I physically blocked another moving car moments later by standing in front of him, and tried to explain the situation. The driver began to open his door but his girlfriend/wife told him not to get involved, and they drove away too.
Should I mention that during this time, nobody from the neighboring houses showed up, either? And that the thug, each time, just waited at a distance, and resumed the chase as soon as the driver were away?
