Im an asshole. Don’t lump yourself in with me.You are more along the lines of trash.
Now where is that damn trash can
No, not because they were black, I just have a feeling that the store was so unorganized that I could have found at least one employee of the store (regardless of their race) who wold have let me exchange he mouse.
No they weren’t! If they were, I might understand a little bit of miscommunication, but they both worked in the customer service center! Why should I have to point out their errors for them??
For all I know they were speaking Ebonics to me. I don’t live in NYC, I was visiting my parents. They weren’t rude to me, and I don’t feel I was rude to them. My demeanor remained polite for the duration of the conversation.
There is a difference in “perfect grammar” and “This mouse don’t work?”! I expect people who are competing for my dollar to know what is blatantly incorrect!
I probably would have written to the company headquarters and taken the issue one notch up.
After all, we need guys like you. To point our fingers and say there goes the bad guy…
It just occurred to me that I may have gone off half-cocked in my earlier post. That could be because I’m having a really hard time understanding the OP, what with the punctuation being placed outside of the quotation marks.
Are there any English-speaking racists who can annoy me instead?
I just want to know if your legs are tired from all that back-pedalling?
Ah, so “wold” is some new word that you’re keyed in on and the rest of us have so far failed to comprehend, right?
That’s the thing, though. They weren’t “competing for your dollar.” You’d already spent your money in the store, and was now asking them to do you a favor; that is, exchange the mouse in clear violation of the store’s written policy. There was no incentive for them to be nice to you. On the other hand, you should have been nicer to them.
There was an incentive to be nice to me if they want my business in the future!
The only error committed was by the first employee to try to work with you, asshat.
Whatever your demeanor might have been, you failed to be polite when you requested to speak to another employee because you didn’t like their race. Whether or not you try to cover it up with an intentional misunderstanding of a grammatically incorrect, but still comprehensible, sentence is irrelevant.
I promise you, they don’t give a shit about your dollar. And Circuit City, as a company, will get by just as well if you boycott them based on the speech patterns of their employees.
The US Postal Service would have appreciated the cost of the stamp, I’m sure.
Your empathy and consideration for others are truly impressive. I’ll bet you’re just a delight down at the local Walmart.
They WERE nice to you. The first guy offered to bend store policy for you. By your own admission, they were not rude. Your only complaint is that you think you were somehow being victimized by the fact that an employee did not have perfect grammar (something which you attribute to his race with no justification at all). Most of those people are not college graduates. They are not expected to be able to talk like William F. Buckley.
I still want to know why you think their grammar had anything to do with their race or why you would assume that a white person would have better grammar.
You’re probably a troll anyway. I think I’m done feeding you.
copperwindow, you’re not an asshole.
You’re just defective. Your brain don’t work. Come back with the original packaging and you can exchange it.
Against my better judgment…
If one employee gave you a break on the return policy after having explained to you that you did not have the needed materials to make a return, why didn’t you seek out that same guy when you were ready to leave? The guy did you a favor and you basically put him or the other employee in a bad spot. That’s ignorant at best, and jerkish.
You don’t happen to wear blue jeans, do you?
Second, what planet do you live on? When you return an item to the store you generally need to have the item in its original packaging with the receipt. Fair enough, one might toss a package, but no receipt either? And you actually expected the store to take it back? And when an employee decides to give you the benefit of the doubt, and another states the store policy you think it’s down to a racial issue?
Last, as several people have pointed out, do you realize that you’ve made copious grammatical and syntax errors in your posts? I’d like to speak to the Black counterpart of the OP for better posts, please.
(There. I fed him.)
Let me say now that “that mouse don’t work” is perfectly grammatical in many varieties of English including AAVE. For fuck’s sake, people, can we stop with this “imperfect grammar” bullshit?
Look, copperwindow met someone who speaks a different (though fairly widespread) variety of English than her. Recognition of this doesn’t make her an asshole. Heck, if copperwindow is so unfamiliar with “Sean’s” dialect that she couldn’t understand him, then maybe she should’ve talked to someone else. In my opinion, what makes her an asshole is the assertion that her dialect is superior and more perfect than “Sean’s,” and that “Sean” should “know better.”
Hey! I am offended! I wear blue jeans. That doesn’t make me an asshole or racist.
Denim-phobe.
For those who don’t know (there are several new posters in this thread, it seems), he’s referring to GuyNBlueJeans.
Busted. One of my first-ever in-board jokes. That’s it, I’ve been here too long…
Hee, hee. Color me whooshed. (Even though I was just funnin’.) I forgot all about him.
If.
You win the thread.
