What’s ambiguous about their answers? They both said the policy is not to accept returns without original packaging. The first one offered to bend the rules and accept a re turn anyway; the second one did not.

If you did so because you thought employees not of your race were incompetent, then yes, you would be.
If you did so because you thought employees of your race would be more likely to not follow their store’s policies, you’d be a prick, but not a racist.
If you did so because you didn’t speak English, and you didn’t think people not of your race could speak Spanish, you’d be ignorant.
All three of these qualify for ‘asshole’, in my book.

Because the employees of these kinds of stores are expected to humor and placate irrational, asshole customers to an almost absurd degree. If you’ve ever worked in customer service, then you know that dealing with jerk-ass customers is part of the job and you’re not allowed to tell them to fuck off no matter how out of line they get. I can virtually guarantee you (if your story is true) that you were disparaged in the most colorful language imaginable once you were out of earshot.
Assuming that they’re right and there wasn’t another employee who would have let me exchange it with no questions asked.

There was some difference in the way we were communicating, period. If I ever talked like that at my job, I would have been fired long ago. Why should I expect to get less than I give out. When they heard me speaking in correct English, shouldn’t they have spoken back
to me in correct English?

I can only imagine what kind of horrible scene may have been created if the employees of Circuit City didn’t do whatever they did to satisfy you and get you out of the store as quickly as possible. The defusing of the situation, which through your own description reeks of bigotry, is to their credit and not yours.
It boggles my mind that someone can put out a call for opinions on such a clear incident of intolerance and then imply they did nothing wrong. The first employee tries to cut you some slack on the store’s return policy, and then you turn around and accuse the black help of not knowing store policy. Unbelievable.

I think it’s unreasonable to expect that the employees would have a perfect degree of communication when they’re working in different parts of the stores. You had every opportunity to tell the second guy what the first guy had said but you chose to play the white power card instead.
No there wasn’t. You understood him perfectly. He wasn’t rude or unfair or incomprehensible and what does his race have to do with his grammar anyway? Why would you asume that a white person would have better grammar than a black person. I’m originally from the deep south. I can show you white people who you’d need fucking subtitles to understand.
They spoke back to you in civil, comprehensible English. There was no attempted slight on “Sean’s” part. Not everybody has perfect grammar.

If you wanted a second employee to go along with what the first employee said, it was your responsibility to get the two parties together. With a lot of "thanks you"s, "please"s and humility for not understanding that returning a product withoutthe original packaging isn’t any store’s usual MO.
Dipshit. If you expect the sales staff that caters to you to be of a certain class and affect certain mannerisms, don’t go to stores like Circuit City. Part of how they keep their costs low is by not spending tons of time worring about the speech patterns of their employees. The kid spoke in a manner that was understandable to anyone. Subject verb agreement isn’t necessary for clarity in this situation.
