I think everyone has at one time or another believed that any thread they dared to answer would fall dead as soon as they hit submit. I definitely include myself in this group.

Threads die for many reasons, most of them not your fault, but it has to be of their own free will.

Just try to kill a thread on purpose and see what happens.

Bah. Threadkilling. That’s nothing. Wait until you start seeing the following sequence:

  1. OP is something you know the answer to.
  2. You post an answer (the first correct one).
  3. Time passes.
  4. More time passes.
  5. Several other people post the exact same answer.
  6. Thread originator thanks the several other people. Nobody mentions you.

That threadkilling thread was hysterical. Really. Oh, sorry; I forgot what this was about. Ummm, oh.

No, you (don’t) suck. I was here for many moons and it seemed nobody wanted to talk to me for the longest time. Finally I ranted about it in the Pit and got flamed. Then I felt better.

I’ve really only killed one thread so far. I was just in this wacky mood and went hog-ass wild with my post. Afterwards I was scared I might have pissed people off, but I reckon everyone just didn’t think the thread was worth it any more.

What did it? What killed the thread?
