Lately I notice that I have nothing to add to threads I’m reading.
OTOH I probably have about two or three questions a day that pop up that I might like to ask on SDMB, mostly GQ and IMHO. Of course I’d stick around to clarify my question if more info is needed or if it wasn’t clear what I was getting at. And I’d come back to say thanks.
This is pretty much Standard Operating Procedure in GQ. There’s really no need to respond to a GQ thread you’ve started for anything more than you’ve mentioned. It wouldn’t be a problem in IMHO either.
As has been said, a certain degree of involvement is expected by the OP in GD and the Pit, but not so much in the other forums.
I disagree. It’s considered impolite to have people answer questions in GQ, especially after doing considerable research, and not thank them for it. Making a habit of it would be noticeable.
If you have time to read the responses, you have time to post a quick “thank you.” That’s all that’s necessary.
