It seems like there are a shit load of old threads being resurrected in all forums in the last couple months. Many that are 5-10yrs+ old. Had it always been like this and I’m just now noticing or is it some recent trend?
I’ve noticed that too, and it seems to be done primarily by spammers.
Since TPTB, in their infinite wisdom, decided to index the board to Google.
The only thing I seem to notice since my relatively recent joining of these message boards is how often this question gets asked. It’s insane!
Most of the zombie threads are resurrected by brand new posters, who either ignore or don’t notice the dates on the thread. I just asked that question in another thread, wondering what IS it about April and May that brings out all the zombies and newbies?
Am I a bad person for hoping the post date on the OP would be 2001?
I agree with their wisdom. It’s worth having a better search tool, I can easily skip past a few old threads.
Yup. And I quite like reading the old discussions too.
I can live without the stale zombie jokes though - just acknowledge that it’s an old thread and move on, no need to try and be “funny”
Moved MPSIMS --> IMHO.
May and June is when the school year ends, and there’s a large group of people who suddenly have time on their hands.
Spammers, alas, are a constant.
Some boards have a delay between account creation and initiation of posting privileges.
Am I imagining things or does somebody have to start a thread about this every time a bunch of zombies crop up?
Gawrsh, MOL. You bumped a thread that was over 7 minutes old.
Zooooommmmmbbiieeees.
Braaaaaiiiinnnns.
Haw-haw!
I have never, ever seen a board so obsessed with people reviving old threads as this. Srsly. Why are there so many posters who can’t look at the upper left hand corner of the op or of the post they’re replying to?
Which hurts the legitimate posters who may have a reason to reply quickly.
If you’re new to the board (or any boards), there’s a lot to learn, and the reflex of checking the date doesn’t come naturally. Heck, some boards haven’t been around long enough to have zombies.
Remember when some guy pitted you for making a zombie joke. Zhe was like, “I only dislike you because of the zombie joke.”
My school ends so late this year.
June 27, 2013!
Zhombie, surely?
It may be the time to catalog all the zombie threads for future reference.
Here are candidates for oldest ones. One still open (as of this post) and one closed.

I think this sets a record for the oldest zombie.
At least it isn’t so old it’s talking about the sharp-edged pull-off tabs
that were on cans back in my parents’ youths.
Ask yourselves WWTZS (What Would The Zombies Say)?
Tell her no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
No, no, no, no, no
I’ve resurrected a couple of old threads because I had something new to add.
I’d give the newbe a break if they actually bothered to hang around. But the majority of the zombie revivals are made by one hit wonders that never show up again. Many of them have similar posting styles.
I picture some dweeb sitting in his mom’s basement congratulating his self for amassing 62 socks over two months.
Yes, this question gets asked several times a year.
Right. People may sign up just to make one post, but we’d prefer they can actually make it. A delay wouldn’t solve this problem anyway.
That was five years ago, and we think it’s been a positive even if there are some more zombie threads.
