She has a restraining order for a high school student.. She taunted police officers. If she was a black maie, this would have turned out much differently. There is documented incidents of her assualting her family. There are allegations that she beat her sister, husband, brother-in-law and nephew.
The thing that kills me is that Americans could care less about Women’s sports OR soccer. But let’s win a trophy and AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!!!

I hear about it a lot from MRA-types complaining about double-standards regarding violent athletes. Until your post, I don’t think I ever it heard about it from anywhere else. (I’m not saying it wasn’t reported, just that it wasn’t widely talked about.)

Yea you pretty much are. Hope Solo, just like any male athletes or anyone from any walk of life who’s in the top 1% of 1% of 1% with a marketable skill, gets a little more leeway. That’s life and it isn’t fair. The sooner you realize that the faster you can move on.
There is a sports talk radio duo in Chicago and one of them hates her with a passion, and foams at the mouth (you can hear it) when he speakes of her. He’s been suspended twice recently for moronicaly mysoginistic ramblings, so I don’t give a shit about his opinion of anything. But, as an answer to your question, no you are not the only one.
There was a long article in ESPN magazine not too long about Hope. She’s far from crazy. She’s just plane mean at times. That’s why they live at the top of a hill that’s next to impossible to find, guarded by Dobermans.

The Pacific Northwest styles itself as a progressive, modern society, and it always struck me how it views its underclass: it doesn’t demonize them like the East & Midwest, or romanticize them patronizingly like the South. It just flat out ignores them as best as possible. So whenever one of them makes it big, and reverts to type, like Tonya Harding or Courtney Love, a part of me can’t help smiling.
I care. But that’s no reason not to root for the team. There are a lot of other players on it.
And indeed she may be; she is also an extremely talented athlete performing at the highest levels of her sport.
And anyone who follows sports knows that high-level athletes, as long as they can perform well and ‘bring home the bacon’. will get a pass more often than not. See any number of NBA/NFL/Pro Boxing reports from the past ten years.
Let’s see where Ms. Solo is 15 years from now, post-career and still with an apparently violent temper.

Solo wasn’t even the main force behind the 3 wins I saw this year. In the game against China I don’t know if the ball ever came to her! In the Final, it was all about the 5 goals scored.
So, yeah, if she is a criminal she should be in jail. But whatever her situation it doesn’t mean I shouldn’t root for the team!
