Oh, garbage. On the contrary, there is constant Christian religious (and right wing) propaganda and the push to practice Christianity in government service. Employees are far more likely to get fired for not going to their bosses unofficially mandated prayer meeting or for complaining about the preacher being piped in over the PA system than for “making it known that they are Christians”.
All those fluids have to come from somewhere…and your brain is at the top of your body, one of the first things to dry out and shrivel up. Same reason men go bald.
Deal with it. At the 1998 Annual Convention of the League for Oppressing Christians, atheists worked out a deal with the Jews to take over control of the internet. The Muslims wanted it and the Buddhists backed them (they owed them a favor because the Muslims helped them take over the auto industry back in 1992). But we made a deal with the Hindus where we let them have control over technical support. The Satanist/Wiccan Coalition, as usual, got left out in the cold - they haven’t scored big since they took over popular music back in 1956. They ended up whining so much we threw them the young adult literature genre at the 1999 convention.
It’s worth noting that many of the posters around here who are quite knowledgeable about religion who post in the religious threads are atheist, or nearly so. Diogenes the Cynic is a good example; I’m always impressed with what he knows about the history of the New Testament and early Christianity, but I do believe that he’s an atheist.
Likewise, I often weigh in on those threads on the side of theism and Christianity, though you’d be hard pressed to call me a Christian* and I’m only a theist most of the time.
*I believe in the man, I’m intrigued by his ethics system, but I don’t believe in the Resurrection, either in its literal occurrence or its salvific power.
Yes, it is very disturbing that while the faithful keep their views to themselves, rabid atheists have begun proselytizing like mad. This trend has been noticed by none other than the Jehovah’s Witnesses, who in a recent publication said:
(please turn your irony meters to their lowest setting. Thank you.)
“A new group of atheists has arisen in society. Called the new atheists, they are not content to keep their views to themselves.”
It’s either the Harmonic Convergence or End Times.
