Am I weird? Attractive TV mothers

For some reason, I tend to find mothers in TV shows attractive. I know that the average TV woman is more attractive than the average real woman (it’s part of the gig), but this goes beyond that. I don’t know if it’s the fact that they’re older and still attractive, that they’re experienced or what, but they just do it for me, straight off. Marion Cunningham, Maggie Seaver, Vivian Banks (both of them), Elyse Keaton, Clair Huxtable, the list goes on. They just slay me. I even like Carla Tortelli, if that counts.

Am I alone in this? Am I weird? Does everyone else check out the (appropriately aged) daughters instead? Not that I don’t do that as well, of course.

All I know is, I started to feel old when I realized I’m more attracted to the mom on Gilmore Girls than I am to the daughter (who is closer to my age). But dang it, I can’t help myself.

Um . . . not that I watch Gilmore Girls.

It’s that killer combination of physical attractiveness, demonstrated fecundity, and an association with food.

I always had kind of a thing going for Donna Reed, back when they ran her series on Nick at Nite.

And not a TV mom but a movie mom, but around the time of Poltergeist I had a wicked crush on Jobeth Williams.

Though not the brood’s natural mother, Wanda Mac (Kellita Smith) from The Bernie Mac Show gets my vote amongst current TV moms. Wow.

Does Larry David have kids in Curb Your Enthusiasm? Because his wife Cheryl (Cheryl Hines) comes a very close second…
