I just read Cecil’s column about animals finding their way home and other amazing feats. I know I have my own little dog story. Does anyone else have an Amazin’ Animal Tale?
I had a cat who would fetch. Considering what many people say about training cats, I’d say that’s pretty amazin’.
Sublight, you must have a craaaaaaaaazy cat. then again, most cats are crazy… but that one is especially weird.
my pet human grows catnip for me… that’s pretty amazing, according to what my other cat friends tell me… and the Big Girl does amazing tummy rubs… purrrrrrrrRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRrrrrrrrRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrr…
Yeah, she was a good cat. I would toss out a crumpled ball of paper, and she would run and pounce on it, then pick it up in her mouth, bring it back and drop it at my feet. It was like she wanted to play “hunt and kill”, but understood that I was the one who made the prey come to life.
So far I’ve had four cats who would play fetch.
It’s way better than playing with a dog–they don’t drool on the ball (crumpled paper) and they don’t make you chase them around and wrestle it out of their mouths.
Cats fetching! Now that is cool!
I had a friend take my dog to the vet once and he escaped the car. After putting up signs all around the neighborhood, we got a call from a lady that said she found Buster sitting patiently underneath one of my signs, about four blocks from where he bailed.
My grandfather had a dog that could say several words and played the piano while singing. We wanted to send it in to Funniest Home Videos, but he refused to perform in front of our camera. He was truly an amazin’ animal, but when my grandfather died he never spoke again, or much of anything else. BUT…
My aunt took him to the cemetary once and she swears that he ran straight to the area my grandfather was buried. But my aunt is kinda kooky.
Now, my dog Lucky doesn’t do anything so much amazing. He just adores me(and I’m not his feeder!), and that’s pretty cool.
