Amazing but trivial coincidences

At the request of @Treppenwitz I cross post this here, from the “interesting random fact…” thread:

The word “pine” has two meanings in English, noun: pine, the tree, and verb: to pine, or yearn for something.

The Japanese translation is one word with the same two meanings! Japanese poets figured this out 1000 years ago.
