Amazing Race 11/19 "Looking Like a Blue Haired Lady...

Judging by the fact that he seemed to be pretty into the contestants’ “rapping,” I’d say not so good.

Well, duuuuuuuuh. Wouldn’t we all?

Oh, come on, now … he can’t possibly be worse than K-Fed, can he?

I’d gladly trade my 30 seconds of front-seat time in an M-1A1 Abrams tank for a chance to drive a T-64! As others have noted, that must have been the coolest Roadblock ever. But even so, shut the fragging hatch, people! (Or does the T-64 not have forward-view mirrors in the driving compartment?)

Draelin, rockle, BiblioCat, if you ladies liked watching folks on TV in tuxes, you should see guys in RL in tuxes!

I wonder what the women would have had to wear at the Find Music Detour; evening gowns, perhaps?

Yeah, Bama was pretty darn bad. If there was actually any judging, I wonder what the criteria were. I kinda thought they should have been made to do it over again.

The tanks had a soldier riding shotgun so they may have needed to leave the hatch open in case the soldier had to get in. There may also have been issues with lighting the…cabin?..for filming.

That would have been good and bad for the beauty queens. Good? Would have looked hawt (as the kids say). Bad? Potential delays caused by reflexive waving and treacly speeches.

No kidding. At least the other teams seemed to space out the countries. Bama was like “We’re from 'bama and we’re here to say, we went to Mongolia, China, Madagascar, India, Finland, and the Ukraine… hey!”

There is not a man on earth who does not look good in a tux. I kind of wish that, instead of the occasional casual Friday, we had black tie Wednesdays or something. Except I’d be too distracted to get any work done, I think.

It looked like they were looking out the top of the hatch opening to see where they were going. And once again, Coolest Roadblock ever! I wanna drive a tank! (I’m such a tomboy!)

Okay, I’m not that uncouth that I’ve never seen I guy in a tux IRL. Guys in tuxes are hot. Are you coming to Gingy and WeirdDave’s Dope the Halls? (I met you there last year, right?) Maybe you should wear a tux. I dare you.

That’s what I was thinking.

Not to condone copyright infringement or anything, but search on YouTube for “Amazing Race 10”.

(By the way, I’m on a business-type trip right now, so the Assessment for this week (if anyone cares) will be late or never.)

We do have to put in our hours as weekend warriors…

 That’s my favorite part of the Amazing Race!!! You may as well say that the sun won’t rise tomorrow.

I did – Youtube is a wonky site and doesn’t like showing me certain videos. :frowning:

Who was it who came up with the requisite Ugly American remark this week regarding Chernobyl (“I know that’s where the atom bomb went off”)? I can’t remember whether it was Rob/Kimberly or the BQ’s.

It was Rob.

Actually, I think it was one of the Beauty Queens. I liked the requisite “doink” sound the editors tossed in there.

And that’s ugly-Americanism? Seems like a honest mistake to me.

TANKS! Just hold that thought. The only thing cooler than a Roadblock where you drive huge friggin’ tanks through the mud would be a Roadblock where you drive huge friggin’ tanks through the mud AND crush a Volkswagen under the treads. Anyway, time for the…

Taxi Assessment

Stuck in the Desert and Officially Detained - or, Philiminated with extreme prejudice.
Bilal & Sa’eed and Vipul & Arti and Kellie & Jamie and Duke & Lauren and Tom & Terry and Peter & Sarah and David & Mary - Probably not gonna win the million dollars.
Erwin & Godwin - (down from “Rapido!”) - Oh brothers; where art thou? (I’ve been waiting all season to use that line, so work with me here.) Can we all agree that alliances where you SIT AND WAIT for the other teams instead of RACING are, by definition, stupid? We can? Good. That’s not really the only reason the Chos were eliminated–their inability to independantly navigate surely played a role–but their pride in adopting a fundamentally dumb tactic is just a bit much.

Flat Tire - or, not likely to get anywhere soon.
No one this week.

Stopping for Gas - or, not broken-down, exactly, but not a good sign.
Lyn & Karlyn - (holding steady) - Can we all agree that alliances where you SIT AND WAIT for the other teams instead of RACING are, by definition, stupid? Wait, I already used that line. Still, it applies. You can’t bitch about how slow the Chos are going and how they stop too often if you’re actually relying on them to guide you to where you’re going. I’m afraid Lyn & Karlyn are going to be unpleasantly suprised when they have to actually do things themselves. They have almost no chance of winning…but it takes only one stroke of bad luck from another team to get them into the final three.

"Rapido! Por Favor?" - or, making meaningless ineffectual comments from the back seat, but in no immediate danger.
Rob & Kimberly - (holding steady) - A reasonably strong leg, even though this team had car trouble again. (Seriously–what the Hell? Either Rob has terrible car Karma or he’s grinding up the tranny somehow.) I suspect, though, that their relatively strong showing is more a result of Erwin & Godwin and Lyn & Karlyn’s wait-for-the-slowest-team strategy than any natural ability on the part of Rob & Kimberly.

In the Passing Lane - or, ahead of the pack, but not quite comfortably.
Tyler & James - (holding steady) - A winning leg; good for Tyler and James. I originally had serious doubts about choosing the sheet music Detour option, but it looks like that Detour option was much easier than I had originally thought. Tyler & James still have a propensity to get lost, so they strike me as a disaster just waiting to happen, but if they can keep focused they could easily win it all.

Cruisin’ with Earl - or, drivin’ on the shoulder, takin’ shortcuts, and generally kickin’ butt.
Dustin & Kandice - (holding steady) - Still the team to beat. Good navigation, good decisions, good teamwork, and good use of their natural abilities to get people to help them. A shoo-in for final three.

Next week: I really hope we get more TANKS! That would be cool.

Discussion topic: Whatever happened to the newer better more unexpected stuff that Phil promised this season would be chock-a-block with? I counted three things: (a) the non-mat elimination in the first episode (unexpected, but hardly a huge impact on the race). (b) the Intersection (different, yes, but only used once). © the new non-elim penalty (an evolutionary change of an existing race move). These aren’t as radical as I was led to believe.

[sub]Props to Mullinator and his Raj Ratings.[/sub]

I’m not likely to shell out for a tux for Dope the Halls, so here’s me in a tux in 2003 at my best friend’s wedding.

zut: You’ve got an idea there for a Roadblock – monster trucks driving over VW Bugs!

That would work better if you didn’t have that Zombie Bob Saget look on your face…
