Spoilers for last night’s episode. Apologies if there is another thread; I couldn’t find it.
Well, I knew it was going to happen sooner or later, but the ATR’s luck finally ran out. That was too bad, because I really wanted Tian and Jere’s self-destruction to cause them to come in last. I wonder how far apart they were?
Do you think Chuck and Millie did the right thing using the fast forward? I think it was a mistake. When they gave up on finding the museum on the canal and went to the windmill, there were still two teams who had not even arrived in Amsterdam yet. If C&M had gone back to the boat landing, they would have seen that there were still boats left and known that they were not in last place. At least they have a pretty sizable lead going in to next week.
The Clowns seem to be in the best shape. Comfortably in second place w/out having used the FF, but more importantly, they’re having fun. They’re not bickering with each other like most of the other teams. They gleefully dove into a fifteen foot pile of cow shit!
Next week: say goodbye to the models. That’s my prediction.
You know, I’ve realized that the title of my thread might be considered a spoiler, since one team in particular had the strategy of “slow and steady”. If that’s the case, mods, please feel free to edit the title.
I don’t think “strategy” is the right word to use. It implies deliberate planning, whereas the ATC’s were basically forced to be slow and steady. Who enters a race when they can’t even run? That being said, I was sorry to see them go. They took every challenge and leg of the race with humor and good grace.
I was disappointed that the models didn’t give us the satisfaction of a good catfight in the pile of cow dung. But I guess they already had more than enough sh*t to fling at each other. The look on their faces when they learned they were not the last team to arrive was simply priceless. Being forced to remain in the race, for at least another leg, should be punishment enough. Especially since the previews show the race going to India. Looks like it’ll be the same hellhole as the last time the race went there.
Next week: either the Virgins[sup]TM[/sup] continue to self-destruct or they’ll finally Get It On!
The models were pretty stupid, really. If they thought they were last but had no way to REALLY know, they should have just sat in the car for an hour or something until the BFGs showed up – I LIKED them, though I knew they were out of this sooner or later – and followed them in, instead of just hoping they were last and finding out they were wrong. But brains are not exactly their strength.
I am grossed out beyond description beyond the thought of digging through a pile of cow shit. Ewwwwww!
And for once, the Supremes did not refer to themselves as Wives of Professional Athletes!! Yippee! I can root for them now!
Hating the models! Ms Passive/aggressive and Ms Hostile really need to take a time-out. They are so angry! But I’m beginning to think that they wouldn’t be happy anywhere. Still can’t stand the whiny red-headed chick or her no-personality-fiancee. And the ‘best friends’, feh.
Loving the clowns. I think the married guys are starting to rely on themselves rather than using the other, which I think is good. And are the Virgins are beginning to see that marriage isn’t going to be a good thing for them, or did I just dream that?
I hope the models go next week; the constant bickering gets on my nerves. I was sorry to see the ATCs (or as everyoen else calls them, the BFGs) go. They got along well, played the game well, and tried their best. The models are just annoying bitches.
I’m still rooting for the Clowns, but I’m warming up to the NFL wives. I don’t want them to win, but I don’t hate them as much as I did before. I had to laugh at them stuck in the mud. Yeah, just spin your wheels and give it more gas. That’ll work.
That Fast Forward was scary. I wouldn’t want to be strapped to a windmill!
I was surprised so many of them were grossed out by the eels. That didn’t look too bad. Just grab and throw. And the one on the model team hadn’t done a roadblock yet? Good teamwork, there, honey.
I liked the cheese-carrying challenge. That was pretty funny. I liked all the people watching.
I have a couple of questions. This is my first time watching.
It looks like they get US currency. Do they have to exchange it for Euros or do the ticket agents and taxi drivers (and whoever else) accept dollars?
What happens if they run out of money?
If they have money left over, can they save it for the next leg?
How long are the mandatory rest stops?
Who pays for what, exactly? I know they pay for taxis and trains, and TAR pays airfare, but do they pay for food and lodging, or does TAR pay for the rest stop lodging, and are the rest stops at those great castles where they end up?
I was positive that one of the last place teams (Team Catfight or the BFGs) were going to go after it, spin their way around the windmill, only to be told that the FF had already been taken.
Didn’t happen.
How much do I hate the Virgins? Sooooo much!
How much do I hate the gay couple? Soooooo much! (But only because they’re so damned handsome.)
There’s something about the little red-headed girl that I find very attractive. But I still hate her:
“I wanna be part of the team!!!”
“Fine, read this map.”
“I don’t wanna read the map!!”
You’re free to spend the dollars as you see fit. If the locals will accept greenbacks, then that’s fine. If not, you’ll have to get them changed. This was an issue in a previous season when one team was delayed because they had to go to the bank to get their money changed.
Haven’t seen this happen yet, so don’t know.
Yes
Pit stops are exactly 12 hours.
The pit stops are like a time out - the producers pay for food and lodging. During the race itself, you must pay for lodging with the money that they’ve given you. I imagine you have to pay for food as well, but I don’t think it has yet become an issue.
Munch, good point about the FF, I was hoping the same thing… However the BFGs and Models have already used their FFs, so no chance for them to go after it.
The Best Friends were far enough behind that I thought they might go after it. But I guess once they passed the BFGs they knew they didn’t need it. I’d still like to see someone go after the FF and find it already gone.
The sad thing is, the BFGs might have beaten the models if they had rolled in manure instead of dragging the cheese.
Well, I, too, was sorry to see the BFGs go. Not because I thought they’d actually have a chance, but because at least they were having FUN. Team Catfight (great name!) is just making me CRAZY, the stupid bitches. Why did they go into this if they knew SO little about each other? I predict the next leg will be their downfall, too. I can’t see them doing well in the next location.
And I’m liking the Supremes better all the time, too. They’re really willing to do stuff like dig in cow poo (as everyone kept calling it) and try things they’re scared of or grossed out by. And they are very supportive of each other as a team, which is nice to see.
The Virgins are definitely going to implode one of these days. As Millie said, “We’ve clearly got some serious compatibility issues.” I know what she means about the not trusting, though; it’s taken me seven years of marriage to get Papa Tiger to trust my map-reading skills, even though I’d been the family navigator with my totally-nontrusting father since I was 8 years old. These days, before I agree to navigate, I make him promise out loud and up front that when I tell him to take this exit, he will TAKE THIS EXIT and not snatch the map out of my hands and say, “What do you mean, this exit?” (Which is how we ended up lost in deepest scariest Southeast DC one time…which I have yet to forgive him for!)
The redhead is getting on my nerves, too.
We still haven’t seen ANYTHING about the “best friends” yet. I guess that means they’ll be one of the final teams? As was pointed out, the air time goes more to the teams that won’t be around for too long.
And I’m rooting for the clowns. Like the BFGs and the Supremes, at least they’re having FUN.
Kelly and Jon gave us the line of the episode with the eels (which I’ll probably slaughter):
Kelly: What do they feel like?
Jon: A slippery penis.
Kelly: I want to touch one!
That was a not too bad episode. The ATC’s were on borrowed time so I won’t exactly weep for their departure. My instincts tell me Tian and Jaree will finish last next week. My instincts also tell me that it will be non-elimination so I’ll have to suffer their whining another week.
Still no seriously likable teams for me, althoug the clowns and NFL wives are probably my favorites at this point.
Another vote for the NFL wives growing on me – who’da thunk?
Loved the interview with the virgins – he’s saying “She wants me to trust her more, which means doing 100% what she says” (which of course isn’t at all what trust is about, you moron – and if that’s what you think it is, thank God you haven’t married her), and she’s just rolling her eyes. There’s another relationship that won’t survive this experience.
On Team Catfight (yeah, love that name) – I can’t tell them apart, but the passive-aggressive one who doesn’t want to do anything – what do you think she thought she was signing up for?
(When I say I can’t tell Team Catfight apart, I just mean I don’t know which one is “Tian” and which one is “Jerree” or whatever bogus names they’re calling themselves. It’s crystal clear there’s the angry one and the passive-aggressive one. )
Like everyone else, I’m sad to see the ATC’s go, even though it’s a miracle they made it as far as they did. I almost thought they’d pull in front of the Catfight Twins, towards the end…but that was due to creative editing, probably.
I really don’t like the blonde chicks anymore. They fight too much, and days of non-stop travel have really done a number on their good looks. Since they’re in last place with no FF, it’s all but certain that they’ll be eliminated next week.
The Supremes/NFL wives are just as cute as ever, though. I was ROFLMAO when they got stuck in the mud – and I knew they’d find a nice Hollander to tow them out, as soon as one drove by on that lonely deserted road. (Now if they got stuck in FRANCE, that would have been a different story!) They’ve gotten so much airtime that they’re almost certain to fall in a leg or to, but for now, they’re still going strong. YOU GO GIRLZZZ!!!
I think it was indeed wise for Millie & Chuck to FF this week. Millie seemed close to a breakdown and really needed the psychological boost. And that windmill looked FUN! Can you imagine if Flo had to do it??
Thank God the good-looking straight Calif. men have started to grow facial hair, so I can now tell them apart from the good-looking gay Calif. men…the two “couple teams” left (Millie & Chuck, and umm…the other one) are still interchangeable in my mind. Hopefully one of them will drop out soon, just so I can keep track of who’s who.
And the clowns are truly on fire. Absolutely will make the “final three”, I think. Will they take it all? Well…if previous seasons have taught us anything, it really comes down to whoever gets a cab ride first…(sigh. Stupid Flo.)
