Dagnabbit!! I got distracted in the last 5 minutes and missed who got booted. Anyone care to fill me in?
For those reading who haven’t yet seen the episode…I’d say it’s a pretty safe bet there’s about to be a spoiler posted.

Russel and Cindy were eliminated (the dating couple in their 30s)
The Air traffic controllers actually made it! I think they were disappointed at not being able to go home!
Hahha…yeh they seemed pretty sure that they were the last team…too bad…he’s gonna have to run on that bad knee for a while longer
I liked the fast forward. All those waltzing couples, and then the two clumsy Americans looking like dorks trying to get through without spilling champagne. I imagine it took many more takes then we saw on the show.
Vienna looks awesome (except for that monstrous tower). I want to go visit RIGHT NOW.
How did the ATC’s fall so far behind? I wasn’t paying attention towards the end, and I thought they were pretty far up in the field. (It was obvious the asthmatic girl - Cindy I guess her name was - had no chance of finishing anywhere but last.) I’ll have to watch my tape over again.
YIPPIEEE!!! The hot black chicks and the hot blonde chicks are in the lead pack!! So much eye candy to look at, so little time to watch.
I forgot to watch again! I suck. Are those annoying bickery girls at least falling to the back of the pack?
Not yet; they finished 4th.
Interestingly enough, there are two Austrian towns named Gmünd - one right on the Czech border and the other in Carinthia. There’s also a Gmund, without the umlaut, on the Tegernsee in Bavaria. I wonder which one the guys had tickets for.
You know what bugged me? When the skinny Jack Osborne and his father finished the road block with the waltzing couples, he grabbed the clue, ripped it open and just threw the little strip he just ripped off on the floor of the mansion/castle. I mean, honestly, people! It’s bad enough you litter outside. Don’t throw your garbage on the floor inside a building!
Every season so far they’ve shown teams that throw the little paper strip on the floor. It IS annoying.
Y’know, I really want to like the NFL ladies - but if one of them, ONE MORE TIME says the phrase “being married to professional atheletes…” I am going to scream. Yes, we know, quit talking about it!
I really want to like the gay married couple, too. But I think they are acting a bit childish. I agree that they didn’t start this whole thing, but by fighting back it’s just going to get worse. This may be the first season where we see some really low-down not-playing-fair tactics (well, we saw that last night with some teams grabbing the ticket off of carriages already holding other teams, but I’m thinking it’ll get worse).
I love this show!
Cricket
Ugh. Make that “athletes”
Cricket, glad it’s friday
I have to agree with just about everything you said. I hate when they rip open the envelope and throw the strip down. It seems like they ALL throw that strip on the ground. I’m not a tree-hugger env
I have to agree with just about everything you said. I hate when they rip open the envelope and throw the strip down. It seems like they ALL throw that strip on the ground. I’m not a tree-hugger enviromentalist-type, but jeez, find a trash can!
And yes, the NFL wives always have mention that they’re married to professional athletes. You know what, ladies? I don’t care! No one cares!
And I started out wanting to like the gay couple, but I can see them self-destructing eventually. And the model team, Tian and whats-her-name aren’t going to be around for much longer, either. Fighting isn’t good sportsmanship.
I like Al and Jon(?), the clowns. I’m rooting for them now.
Actually, it was Millie who had the asthma attack, and she and Chuck finished fifth.
The ATCs fell behind right from the start. When they left the last check in point, they were told by a local to go to a train station in Padua (I think) to get a train to Vienna. It turned out that there was no trains to Vienna from Padua, and they had to backtrack. I think they ended up on a train 2 hours behind the leaders. Add that to getting bad directions again (they went to the wrong station to get a train to Gmunden), and they really lucked out not being eliminiated. I guess that’s why you should never give up - another team could get terribly lost and keep you in the running. I imagine their luck has run out though - the ATCs are looking good for elimination next week, barring another huge screwup by someone else.
Slight hijack - maybe it was just the editing, but it looked like Millie was using her inhaler way too much. I have asthma too, and one doctor told me the biggest problem with asthma patients is that they overuse their inhalers during an attack, and get in to even worse trouble. Maybe she’s got a different type of inhaler (it was a different color than the ones I have), or like I said, maybe it’s just the editing.
mcms_cricket I agree that this year the teams seem quite a bit more cut-throat than in past seasons.
I had to laugh at Chip (I think it was him) complaining to Millie that she cut his lip! He didn’t seem to have a problem almost knocking her down, so he doesn’t have any right to whine that she dished it back.
Oh, and throwing the strip of paper on the ground/floor bugs me too.
If the ATC’s think their chances at winning are for other teams to screw up, then they probably know their odds are not good to survive long.
I like Millie and Chuck, simply because she seems to take no guff and is willing to mix it up with anybody. Plus, that girl can run. She apparently outsprinted Chi/Reichen and that’s saying something.
The clowns seem likable, but just how tiny are they?
During the carriage challange, when the gay couple told the best friends that they would help them, I knew it would go badly. I mean, how lazy are these guys that they would just stand around and wait while the other two raced their asses off to get the tickets? Did they really expect them to outrun the other couple AND get both tickets? And then they had the nerve to be pissed off!
Ok, rant over.
I have a lot I could say, but I want to point out that on another site I read the teams are more or less told to not worry about throwing the strip on the ground, one of the production people will pick it up.
I don’t know how much I believe the NFL wives talk about being NFL wives or the gay couple talk about being gay, all those comments seem to come from voiceovers and interviews where the editors can cull those tidbits from who knows how much source material. I judge more on how they act and what they say during the race. I know that can also be manipulated by the editor, but it seems more honest in my eyes. Still haven’t picked a favorite, although Maggie and Non-committing boyfriend (did you know these two are still virgins? No, really they are) seem to be inching ahead on my list.
I hope you mean Millie (and Chuck), because I thought I was finally learning everyone’s names. If so, I like them and the rodeo clowns. I really like the the ATCs too (“when he stood on that platform, it caused an eclipse!” heh.) but I don’t think they can last much longer.
I put my money on David and Jeff, then they do that boneheaded move on the carriages with Reichen and Chip… sigh. Another $5 I’m never gonna see again.
Millie…Maggie…Marnie…Molly…whatever…the virgin chick
I’m beginning to like Millie and Chuck too. (yes, they are the virgins and she’s the one with asthma). At least they don’t talk about the virginity thing all the time. I didn’t wanna like them, but as Gangster Octopus said, they are inching up on my list.
Now that I’m thinking about it, it seems to me that I did read somewhere (maybe an interview with a past-season contestant) that the teams are told not to worry about the strips of paper. Hmm. Still annoying though.
I agree that the virginity/ married to professional athletes repetition could just be an editing thing. But last night, when one of the NFL wives said it again, it was while talking about something that was happening on the screen at that time - which says to me that to some extent, they are repeating it often. It might be an editing decision to keep showing it, but they are saying it. That said, I do like the NFL ladies - but I’d like them more if they shut up about it.
evilhomer , was Chip complaining to Millie about his lip? I turned my head for a moment and wasn’t paying attention, but I thought he’d come over to apologize for the incident, and when she asked whether she’d done that, he said, don’t worry about it - then she went off on him saying he’d started it…?? Obviously I missed something here.
