I’ve read that video from Amazon is quite nice but I’ve also read that Netflix and Youtube in particular are suspect. How do they work for you?
Thanks!

Netflix is being a bitch &saying they can’t find my account, but Youtube stuff looks awesome.
Netflix and Youtube looked just fine when I used them.
I wanted a Kindle Fire initially, until I learned it had a limited app store (without hacking), no bluetooth, no add-on storage, no volume buttons, no microphone, no camera.
Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet for $250 has more storage (but less usable!), volume control buttons, and a microphone. But less apps than the Fire (without hacking.) I think it would still be a good reader/browser.
But once you start looking there are quite a few 7" tablets for good prices, especially when they are on sale. Check out the HTC Flyer and HTC Evo View 4g. Santa is bringing me an Evo View 4g and I think it was about $300. Bluetooth, (mediocre) cameras, 32GB of storage, microSD slot for up to another 32 GB, external volume buttons, microphone, and also has pen input support if I want to play with that.
I’ve heard the theory that the only companies that are going to be able to make money on tablet computers are those like Apple and Amazon that sell both the hardware and have stores that sell content. The theory was that others (Dell, HP, etc.) wouldn’t be able to compete and would abandon the market. I hope it’s not true, as I’d like to have a wide selection of products available, but the analysis I’ve seen indicated that the Kindle Fire is actually priced less than manufacturing cost (and presumably Amazon expects to make up the difference in sales of ebooks and other content).
