Amazon MGM takes creative reins of James Bond, ending an era of family control of 007

It was done in The Avengers (the TV series).

Given the history and expectations of the character, I’m not sure such a thing is possible, myself.

That’s pretty much what Eon has been doing since Timothy Dalton.

Given the current US polarization, any choice will piss off 50% of the population there.

Riz Ahmed for Bond!

They should make Bond a ten-episode series with a different actor each season. Make all of the people happy some of the time.

Twice, if you count books.

Double post.

You’ve forgotten the outrage over the shocking fact that Daniel Craig was… BLONDE!!! !!! !!!

And also ugly.

Don’t get me wrong - Craig is an attractive man and an excellent actor, but he’s nowhere near as conventionally handsome as previous Bonds, and people had a lot to say about it at the time.

Here’s a Joe Cornish song for you to enjoy.

Ian Fleming described Bond as looking like Hoagy Carmichael.

So… Benedict Cumberbatch?

Have a different actor playing Bond in every movie, but keep the same actor playing Felix Leiter! The reverse of what the Eon films did.

They should make all the next films, with the same cast, but not playing the same characters in each film. Like a repertory theater group. This movie I play Bond, next one I play Bloefeld, next time Q, next time Moneypenny.

True. He also approved this line drawing of Bond in 1957: James Bond - Wikipedia

IOW, a very generic-looking person of obviously English ethnicity.

A good spy looks like Everyman. But better the Everyman of wherever they’re spying at, not wherever they’re spying for.

Here’s the one from Cornish’s fellow podcaster Adam Buxton:

He looks a bit like a young Christopher Lee.

I always thought Mads Mikkelsen had the look, but they used him as a villain instead. Not sure he could’ve done a good accent anyway.

Mads Mikkelsen may have had the look Fleming would’ve approved, but he’s too cruel and evil looking (in a dashing way) to make it for the PTB.
