AMC Into the Badlands: whaddya think?

First season has been put up for streaming on Netflix.

Watched the first episode this weekend. Hadn’t seen it before.

It was okay; the setting didn’t really strike me as “badlands” though; the environment seemed pretty lush to me.

The fight scenes are a lot of fun, but how they handle weapons afterward is a bit maddening. I keep hoping there’ll be a fight at some point where someone will try to draw their blade, but can’t because they sheathed it covered in blood last time, and now it’s stuck.

Watching the new season. Continued fun. Nick Frost is a nice addition to anything. The fights are fun - the latest episode featured a down shot from high above a melee/battle royale that was great. Watching women badass barons do their Baron-Fu in spike heels - and use those heels as weapons - is silly in a badass way.

Nice and comic-book-y. Oh, and Martin Csokas chews the scenery wonderfully as Quinn.

I’m liking it a lot. The world-building is pretty thin, but I like the drama and back-stabbing, and the martial arts remind me of Hong Kong movies like the Executioners. I’ll keep watching.

I just finished this season. I really enjoyed it for the over-the-top-in-all-ways production. I don’t need all the red corn syrup, but it’s cartoonish enough for me to look past.

Coming out of episode 9, without divulging big spoilers, some folks lived who I wasn’t expecting to, some folks died I wasn’t expecting and the mystery of Asra deepened.

It scratches an itch I had been hoping as a Marvel fanboy that SHIELD would, and it is as good in its way as the better Marvel Netflix series like JJones.
