Oy, are they such neophytes that they don’t know a shot to the face doesn’t kill a walker?

This was more like a Dudley Do-Right cartoon than anything else. The idea that Conner wouldn’t have any weapons during the prisoner exchange is laughable. Last week’s ep was pretty good, but this one stank.

Meh, I liked it, but then I appreciate dirty tricks and the bad guy getting his.

I was thinking that the villain (Connor?) would have more men at his disposal, and that the “extraction” should have been harder. He has five ships, but not enough personnel for them? I thought that he might have snipers or machine-gunners at the ready…

Indeed. The idea that Connor would NOT have tricked Maddy in the exchange is rather ludicrous.

The bad guys are new at this apocalypse stuff, too.

I suppose so!

Yeah, that was really stupid.

I did like how the woman from the airplane turned up again.

Support for the theory, “If you leave someone alive, they will bite you on the ass.”

So true!

I feel like they’re not even trying now. I’m probably going to stop recording this show.

I found this to be an improvement on wandering around gossiping about Strand.

Trading the live hostage for a dead walker was a nice touch. Bonus points for when he bites the head a-hole.

Yes, that was outstanding.

I did enjoy that, myself.

So I guess AMC has given up Sundays, for now. Wasting an episode of Talking Dead (a whole lot of sound and fury over absolutely nothing). then, a repeat of FTWD, repeat of TD, repeat all night long.

What is this Preacher they keep advertising, will that be better? I hope?

This time I got Travis in the Story Sync.

It’s been what, about a month this zombie apocalypse started? Two weeks ago there was still a functioning civil government (with hospitals & media), and now a ship’s cook is leading a gang of armed pirates that control 5 ships & already has a system for picking off targets? :dubious: On the other hand it’s perfectly plausible that the ships’ actual crews would bolt when the shit hit the fan; what’s less plausible is that they left the ships behind. This horrible writing. They could have at least scaled down Connor’s operation or made him a drug lord or human trafficker or something.

Agreed.

That bugged me too. The way that one guy kept explaining Connor’s procedures like he had been in charge for years. That worked with the Governor because he had a few years to build his reputation, but it’s only been weeks on this show.

Indeed, after the deep impression they left that this was a serious gang that had their shit together, they turned out to be a handful of clowns with just a certain amount of insight into how to read a naval radar and a will to fuck people over.

Thank Christ for our heroes the brother held off making the constant zombie growl just long enough for the pass-off to take place. Mind you, so often this mysterious taciturnity is used against the protagonists when suddenly zombies manage to stay silent enough to sneak up on somebody. I suppose it’s only right that this mysteriously happens in our heroes’ favor just once. And conveniently, all that fresh blood didn’t seep through the sack.

So, there’s apparently a major bad guy built up and then disposed of. Since these pirates represented a major part of what can go wrong on a boat in a zombie apocalypse, I suppose the only problem now is the hurt feelings of people who will miraculously manage to run into them again.

I don’t quite buy Strand’s change of heart, though I’d rather he showed some empathy than not. I don’t think he’s running a con and is just waiting for a chance to dispose of the others. They certainly seemed to telegraph him becoming a team player.

What were we actually looking with that dock yard? Was it a naval yard, with abandoned ships in dry dock? Was there no competition for that spot, so that a relative handful of guys could hold it down? That much real-estate? I mean, the Ranger’s Island needed regular patrolling for zombies that washed up on shore, but they had a chainlink fence, so a handful of people could manage it. Surely that spot needed similar precautions, but they seemed to find the docks safe enough to do a hand-off apparently unarmed.

How did the girl get on the ship in dry dock without knowing she was boarding a ship in dry dock? Because they sure implied that she was surprised by it, and how trapped she was because of it.

Alicia and Travis both had bags over their heads until they were on the ship.
