I’m looking for an All in One pc to replace a Toshiba notebook. Initial investigation reveals that similar appearing models are available with both AMD or Intel processors. I seem to recall that years back Intel was preferred due to compatability issues. I’m talking about 15 years ago. Is Intel still preferred? This pc will be used for Web surfing and email as well as Photoshop Elements and card games. I have another pc with Creative Cloud for serious photo work.
I just let the benchmarks do the talking. What’s great about that site is they’ll also sort by best CPU for price, which is pretty useful when you’re building a machine yourself.
I’m not sure there was even any real preference (based on anything other than marketing) fifteen years ago. No difference now in general; particular models may be cheaper/better performance for particular applications, but that’s true for models from either manufacturer.
I’m not sure about Photoshop elements, but if you’re buying a new PC (of any sort) the processor you get will have zero impact on the speed of your web surfing, e-mail and card games.
