Then re-read it as being “we did well, and you’re family, so you’ll do well too”. Which may not be PC but is a universal style for gung-ho speeches to relatives

The analogy to the Second World War is unhelpful, in my opinion. America will not ‘prevail’ through military might. The world is moving on and unless the USA learns to adopt a modern approach to foreign relationships it will continue to be isolated from much of the rest of the world. Compare this to the EU, which despite having a similar economic profile to America does not provoke a tenth of the hatred that the USA does.
