So, according to this article, the wifey supposedly killed her husband, and tried to make it look like the suicide from the move “American Beauty.”
Did I see the same flick as this woman? I definetly do not remember any sort of suicide in the movie. Is this weird reporting, or did I miss something in the movie?
IIRC, it was the ex-army guy from next door who shot Kevin Spacey’s character. He was a closet homosexual who had suppressed his feelings all his life.
He saw Kevin Spacey’s character (Lester) with his son, and incorrectly thought that they were having an affair. Thinking that Lester was gay he made a pass at him, but his advances were spurned because Lester is in fact straight. He shot Lester because he couldn’t bear to let him live, now that he knew his true feelings for him.
The film sets up a scenario where the viewer is led to believe that it could have been any one of a number of characters who shot him, but in fact the wife did not do it.
I don’t think it was made to look like suicide, because he was shot in the back of the head.
I have seen the film for a couple of year, but this is how I remember it happening.
What josh said. The person who wrote the article is quite clueless.
The only correlation is that the woman in the article, who seems to have poisoned her husband, sprinkled rose petals on him in the manner of Lester’s jerk-off fantasy.
According to the article:
But there was no suicide in that scene, nor any scene relating to it. The only death in the movie was Lester’s murder, and he was killed by ex-Marine-dad next door.
