Has anybody else seen this? American Express has super discounts on items for sale for one day on their site. They have limited quantities of things so you have to be quick to get them. But the discounts are pretty amazing. Like a BMW Z3 for $5000 new. Less dramatic, but more something I’m interested in, a Zen Micro MP3 player for $75. I feel like there must be some kind of catch in here. I know you have to be a cardholder to get these and they have a no return policy, but there must be something bigger here I’m not seeing. What do you guys think?
To be honest, I actually thought twice before putting this post up for the same reasons. But I’m a bit jaded about super-sweet deals so I figured I’d go to the trusted Dopers for some good advice. Trust me, though, you’ve got no competition for that car from me. I wish I could roll it, but my bank account consists of mainly small bills.
Well, my Amex limit covers that car (or several) easily. I can either keep the car or sell it for a profit and cover the taxes and Amex bill. I’d probably keep it if it’s not too small, a common problem for me in convertible sportsters.
Yeah, it really seems that the best idea for any of these things is to turn around and sell it (apologies to the Mods if this is actually illegal). I mean, unless you really want one of course. But a brand new Z3 should go for quite a bit more than $5k. I guess AmEx plan is working; I’m pretty sure I’ll sign up for a card now.
