American Idol, part III

I was sorry to see scooter girl go, but glad they kept the country girl who forgot the words in the group song (she’s black with a short pixie cut and wears gold lipstick-- does anyone know her name?).

A question: How much face time did past top 10s get this early in the competion?

Brie is an adorable baby dyke, and I’d love to see her win and come out on national TV.

I never had any use for Scooter Girl til last night, when I had to admit that the girl could flat out sing. Next thing I know, she was gone. But I cheered right up when Alan “God’s Gift to Women” hit the door.
I also like Bri, the pink-haired girl (Amy?), and the 16-year-old redhead boy (who’s lucky he stayed after he messed his words up so badly.)

So, now that they’re starting the weekly competition, the contestants will have makeup and wardrobe people, right? I can’t believe some of the sad looking outfits that these people wore on stage. And the girl who reminded them of Kelly Clarkson could use a serious hair stylist. Frizz Ease, anyone?

/catty rant

I just started liking Scooter Girl last night and now she’s gone! I’m thinking Wild Card too. Clay was a Wild Card so maybe…

I really like that pink haired girl Amy, but I don’t really see any standouts like I did by this time last year. I was already all about Ruben and Frenchie at this point.

Regarding Wild Cards… Assuming RickJay is right (from earlier in this thread) that contestants beyond the final 32 can get called back as a Wild Card, then I’m predicting that Michael Keown will become a Wild Card.

My reasoning? He has had a ton of camera time. He has a great voice. Simon seemed to knowingly smirk when Michael questioned him about getting cut.

God, I hope not. What an arrogant bastard. He’s questioned every slightly negative thing that’s ever been said to him.

Ooh. I disagree. She was completely un-funny and highly annoying. I couldn’t stand her. To each their own.

Oops. I forgot to say that even though I can’t stand her grating personality, she does have a good voice.

Amy, the pink haired girl is my favorite. She’s the only stand-out.

I can’t believe the red haired kid made it through. I don’t think he even sang two words in the last two nights. I like him, though.

Count me among the Scooter Girl fan club… not only is she from the Great State of Michigan, she just seems to have a very quirky, kinda twisted sense of humor that’s unusual among American Idol contestants… and the population in general.

Has Wild Card written all over her though. But, in her stead, I’m rooting for pink-haired Amy. (Yeah, I kind of have a thing for girls who are clearly just a bit out the mainstream… but they can both sing, for damn sure.)

I like pink haired girl too, but what’s up with the Celine Dion shit? She needs to find something that fits her personality.

Scooter Girl is scary. The corners of her mouth seem to collect lipstick and give her a very Joker-ish look. I don’t think her persona could sell albums.

It was my first time watching AI, rooting for scooter girl of course. But She blew it on her outfits. Do they have to wear what’s in their closets? she looked so shabby as so many did. I mean a faded wrinkled denim skirt and her not so tone belly poofing out? Do the female contestants think that the more skin you show the better? It ain’t working!

Just a slight nitpick: Kira Scott was the bitchy girl who told Simon he must be gay. Kiira was the blond girl who got eliminated in the round before this, who said in the elevator “they must be looking for trailer trash Idol.”

Michael Keown is completely annoying. The ego on that guy.

And while I liked Scooter Girl, she’s just not pop singer material. I think it might have been Simon I’m agreeing with, but she comes off as a singer-comedian, one of my least favorite subgenres of stand-up.

Amen! I like her so much, but I hate those stupid songs.

Your Final 32:

AMY ADAMS - Red-haired tall girl, performed extremely well on the show.

ASHLEY THOMAS - Blonde, sort of looks like Renee Zellwgger. Has not gotten much screen time. Week 1 contestant.

BRIANA RAMIREZ-RIAL - Short-haired girl who refuses to dance and hated her teammates in the group work.

CAMILE VELASCO - Hawaiian girl, not much screen time to date.

CHARLY LOWRY - Curly-hailed girl, looks sort of Hispanic. Not much screen time.

DIANA DEGARMO - At 16, the youngest girl to ever get this far. Week 1 contestant.

DONNIE WILLIAMS - Black guy who looks older than he is. Great voice.

ELIZABETH LETENDRE - Short-haired blonde, was in that first good girl group.

ERIC YODER - Nondescript young man who first got some screen time this week.

ERSKINE WALCOTT - Pimp-suited young guy with a great voice. An early favourite. Week 1 contestant.

FANTASIA BARRINO - Macy Gray-alike. Lots of screen time so far. Week 1 contestant.

HEATHER PICCINNI - Blonde with a country twist.

JASMINE TRIAS - Very young Hawaiian girl, little screen time to date.

JENNIFER HUDSON - Huge-afroed girl, has gotten a little screen time.

JESUS ROMAN - One of the Separated Brothers.

JOHN STEVENS - the Red Headed Bing Crosby Kid. Obviously got this far on potential, not performance; was horrible in Hollywood auditions.

JON-PETER LEWIS - The Pen Salesman. Also spelled “John Peter” in some releases. Funny looking, but can sing like hell.

JOHN PREATOR - Very handosme blonde kid who’s gotten some screen time.

JONAH MAONANU - The huge Hawaiian guy.

KARA MASTER - Blonde girl, little to no screen time so far.

KATIE WEBBER - The Cheerleader.

LATOYA LONDON - Black girl who’s gotten no screen time that I can recall. I believe is the oldest competitor.

LEAH VLADOWSKI - Tall brunette, brought her Mom. Another 16-year-old.

LISA LEUSCHNER - Redheaded girl Simon told to lose weight. Was rejected last year.

LISA WILSON - Bikini model who’s obviously in for her looks. Weak singer, blew her audition. Simon must love her.

MARISA SOBECKI-ENGLE - I predict she will become just “Marisa” within a week. Not a lot of screen time yet.

MARQUE LYNCHE - Very handsome kid who aced his Hollywood auditions. Very professional bearing. I like his chances.

MATTHEW METZGER - Handsome guy with the tall hair.

MATT ROGERS - Former football player, played in the Rose Bowl. Older than most and acts it. Well-rounded; I like his chances to make the Top 12.

NOEL ROMAN - The Other Long Lost Brother. Maybe their mother can tell them apart.

SUSAN VULACA - Huge-haired black girl. Not a ton of screen time yet.

TIARA PURIFOY - Pretty black girl with a flip haircut. Like her chances.

Is it just me or are this year’s contestants weaker singers than the previous years ?

The one person who got cut that I’m dissapointed about is the guy they kept saying sounds “too old”. I thought he had a great voice, so I’m hoping they bring him back as a wildcard. Scooter Girl can sing, but I find her annoying so I’m not sorry to see her go. I’m also glad that model-boy got cut. He didn’t seem to be taking things seriously at all, and I was surprised he made it as far as he did.

I was surprised that John (the red-headed kid), made it through. He’s got a nice voice, but his style doesn’t match the “American Idol” ideal, and he really seemed to crumble under the pressure. It might have been better to cut him, and tell him to try out next year when he’s a little older and has more experience.

Can top 32 competitors try out again for future shows? I can’t remember, when they were featuring repeat tryouts, if any of them got to Hollywood.

Is Fantasia the one I really like? Black girl with short, pixie hair; gold lipstick and sings without all those fancy fillips? Forgot the words to the group song (who didn’t?)

I want her to win because she has a great voice and I have yet to hear her do one of those annoying “runs”.

You can see photos and profiles of all the top 32 right here.

I am probably one of the few people out there who liked Scooter girl and was sad to see her leave. I’m glad I’m not the only one who did like her though.

I was applauding when they let go of Micheal Keown. What a smarmy creep that guy was.

I’m wondering if they’re keeping both the Roman brothers on for the drama factor, giving that they’re siblings and all and competing with one another and all that. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case.
